I don't think that was a good goal for Crawford to give up.

I initially thought that too, but on the replay it was a pretty clear redirect by the Blackhawks D-man.

According the Cherry, Crawford was the only reason they were in this game. Bruins are very lucky to escape with the split IMO.

Hawks had to win this one. I think they are in trouble the longer this goes. Hawks were my preferred side, but have to overcome the curse that places on them. Not even Detroit 3-1 series lead or Leafs 3 goal lead with 10 min to go could defeat the curse.

I dunno. It's a wrist shot from almost the top of the faceoff circles, and it's tipped at the point of release which is where you should be getting your original read. There's no traffic either.

It definitely disobeys the "Nothing under, nothing through" mantra.

If one of our guys let that in, I'd be critical as well. But hey, just IMO.

I hope each game goes into overtime.

Makes that stab into the hearts of one fanbase even more painful.

Though I hope to see Marchand take a knee after Kane pots the GWG of Game 7.

I'm very surprised that Schneider didn't even get one vote for the Vezina. He certainly deserved to be 4th on the list IMO.

It's settled then. Emery > Schneider.

1.) trade Schneids + Edler
2.) get Emery in return
3.) ???
4.) profit

Hell ya on both counts. Shaw plays 30lbs and 4"'s bigger than he is and is a good player. That's what we need on our team more than size.

It is pretty incredible that Canucks Army compared Friesen to Shaw. Yikes.

I think he has the ability to be an effective NHL player within the next year. I think he's a very pro ready player. We're not talking about a big budding power forward who we're waiting for so he can grow into his body. What you see is what you get. As I said earlier, the things that Friesen does well should transfer fairly easily to the pro game. His faceoff ability, his energy/forechecking ability, and his penchant for killing penalties all make him an asset as a role player on a checking line. You look at the success a guy like Andrew Shaw had in Chicago. Friesen is a similar type of player and I think he'll move quickly up the system. The Canucks have been searching for valuable fourth line players over the past few years. There really aren't many guys in Vancouver's system (at least at the pro level) like Friesen. He doesn't have a ton of competition if the Canucks want more from their fourth line.
Canucks Army:
Quote:
I’d agree with Otten here. No Vancouver prospects project as fourth line players – at least not in the near future. Friesen’s low cap hit would allow them to spend some more money elsewhere, too.

Why is it incredible? At the time when Friesen was coming out of junior, he had better junior track record than Shaw while possessing similar skillset, size, skating ability, etc. Clearly Shaw has something on Friesen that made him transition to the pros better but let's not pretend like Shaw was some gem coming out of junior. Never even reached PPG.

And the guy comparing them is Brock Otten, who watches a hell of a lot more OHL hockey than you and I. He's also been a better source on OHL prospects than anyone else.

Hell, they both played their 18 year old season on the same team and Friesen was the vastly superior player.

I should have been more precise with my original post. I thought, at the time (and I think I expressed my thoughts here) that the Canucks Army's comparisons to Friesen were way off. I think the Shaw comparison was a poor one in that Shaw made huge strides after leaving the OHL. His development has been quite incredible. I am always weary of comparing prospects to other prospects who then had unusually extreme developmental jumps. This is also why I think your Desharnais/Schroeder comparison isn't a great one.

Otten made the comparison, not Canucks Army. The author agreed with the thrust of that 170 word excerpt from Otten which was that Friesen's tools could allow him to be useful on the 4th line within the next 3 years (by 2015).

You're trying way too hard.

They seemed to agree with the comparison.

Too bad when they did it to us we responded and proceeded to play right into their hands.

I don't think I could ever dislike Bolland as much as I dislike Marchand. Even though they're both rats.

I love this. Either way, Seattle or Quebec is fine by me but having a team in Seattle would be sweet.

Whatever happened to "reliable 4th liner Shawn Thornton", CBC?

Putting Bollig in reeks of them trying to have some sort of deterrent to the Bruins' toughness when that's not their game. Not sure why Stalberg isn't in the lineup over him, even if he hasn't been playing well.

I'm quite shocked to see Boston playing whistle to whistle and not engage in extra-curricular shenanigans. Marchand for the most part has been an angel. Keith too. It's like they've bonded over their mutual hatred of the Canucks.

The league cracked down in Boston's gooning after the scf.

I just watched the Boston game winner, isn't what Bollig did identical to what Mitchell did for us (against the 'Hawks)?
