Subban in the 1st rounder? How did you figure this out? The argument was of Subban being selected 71st overall....

Voted for Mirco Mueller.

Would be happy with McCarron or Rychel as well though.

Went with Mueller.
Best player left on the board and rounds out the rest of the defense prospects very well. I wouldn't mind Rychel or Bowey at 25 either.

Hedman is one, by LWS.

He's also been compared to former teammate, Ryan Murray, which Mueller himself has turned down, suggesting "He got drafted 2nd overall, I have yet to be drafted."

Hampus Lindholm.

He's a really really good prospect. He'd be a early teens pick in a normal draft.

Great. We just drafted the next Cam Connor. With insight like this, it will be at least another 20 years before we win a Stanley Cup.

I think I'd look to support a new team if our scouting staff were this bad irl.

Not BPA, kind of a shame people chose based on current team needs. Mueller is definitely the safe pick and Bailey's got the most high - end potential IMO. Would really have to step it up in the second to make me feel okay about this pick.

People have trouble projecting how a junior player's game will translate at the next level. Against bigger and faster players Rychel's warts will be exposed for all to see. He simply can't skate well enough to be an effective NHL player. There's a reason Montreal has been a largely mediocre team for the past 35 years. It starts with poor drafting. By eschewing the BPA methodology and allowing their decision making to be influenced by perceived team needs and parochial issues, the draft has failed to provide the team with the needed life line of self-sustaining talent. Choosing Rychel would be just another misstep in a now very long journey of failure.

Since the pick has now been made, we can take all other discussion to the draft sticky.
