I think he learned the lesson from it. He tried to please everyone with the comments. That was a bad idea from the start, but I think there was nobody who could advice him on how to handle it, unfortunately.

I think Kuzya was a little naive coming into the real pro life and media took advantage from it. He was speaking his mind and he should've not done that. Russian media just waits for that chance to jump on someone. That's why many Russian players don't like the media.

Also interesting that he says Nichushkin wants to play in the NHL badly. Many thought the opposite.

I know and I was surprised by it, but that's kinda not my job. It's more editorial/promotional stuff than writer's choice and I prefer to stay away from that part. There are people who really know their business so I don't worry about it.

Russian, Canadian, Colombian, Martian.....it's a non-issue. Him not already in DC has been and always will be the issue until he reports.

Apparently you haven't been paying attention, or maybe you tune out Mark Gandler, but Gandler has been saying he is very interested in the NHL and he along with Buchnevich will spend the summer in NA training.

Different publications websites take different quotes from an interview and use it as their headline. The one I read first was with the headline " No amount of money can keep me in Russia" They are all different.

Because he didn't come to North America already. Most around here will give a European drafted in the 1st round one more year at home, maybe two, before coming over but that is about it. If Kuznetsov comes over after next season, and I believe he will, that will be four years after being drafted, which is at least two too many for most around here.

I believe it is as simple as that.

Sounds like a good kid, and with OV on the roster he should have a mentor to get him acclimated to living in DC.

Not sure he will play in front of 18,000 every night though, but he won't have to worry about people writing **** on his car when its parked at Kettler or Verizon. Also, with people like Katie covering the Caps, he won't have to worry about getting hounded by the press. At least until the Caps play a Canadian team.

I think there is a good chance he Semin's it up and doesn't talk to the media for quite a while.

Shouldn't be a problem. Caps fans are very understanding about things like that...

I doubt it. Kuznetzov has great disdain for the media, but he also thrives on the attention they give him, thus he has rightly earned his label of drama queen... until he proves otherwise or matures, then he'll continue doing the same as he has been doing...He can relax though, the Canadian press won't bother him until he actually does something of note in the NHL or plays his first game in Calgary...and or when he plays in Columbus for the first time, Boone Jenner waits.

I don't see the same introvert in Kuz. I disagree...

Once he reports, all he has to do is bust his ass, be a good citizen/teammate and play good hockey.

IINM Traktor would have to grant him an early release to do so, but they'd have no reason not to whenever their season is through...

Being an Olympic year the KHL season will be stretched out and really I don't see any realistic chance of Kuznetsov being freed up before the end of March.. meaning with less than 2 weeks in the NHL season remaining, I doubt he makes his debut under those kinds of circumstances...and depending on how Russia does at the Olympics, if they fail to at least get a medal, then the World Championships could be more important to him than finishing out the year with the Caps. At least that's my prediction of how things will play out.
