Eh, I'm letting it stand. The poll isn't present in the other thread, and it would be nice to see what the consensus is since we've seen lots of names thrown around.

I won't be voting because I don't know enough about these guys to pick one over the other.

IMO it would be:
1. Nurse
2. Ristolanien
3. Zadorov
4. Morrissey
5. Pulock
6. Morin

In the end though I could care less who we pick even if its a forward.

If Nurse is there at 11, you have to take him.

I don't understand how you can take Jones out, but leave Nurse up there...The only way we get either is by trading up.

Ahh you might be right, Nurse might not be at #11 but it's not a slam dunk like Jones. All it takes is a few teams going off the board with their picks for Nurse to be at #11.

Agreed, I see Jones going at 7 to Edmonton but with the possibility of movement of just people reaching/going off their boards as you say it's possible Nurse is available.

My order:

Darnell Nurse (obviously, my vote as well)
Rasmus Ristolainen
Ryan Pulock
Josh Morrissey
Nikita Zadorov
Samuel Morin

The worst case scenario for Jones is the #2 pick IMO, teams would be lining up to trade with Florida for that pick assuming they wouldn't just take him themselves.

People get hung up on the rankings sometimes, outside of the first few picks it never really goes according to plan. There's guys every year who go a lot higher and guys who drop that no one expected.

It just kind of kills this poll though, since the consensus is clearly Nurse as the #2 defenseman.

I'm more interested in Ristolainen vs Pulock vs Morin

Jones is gone after #1..... No way Colorado doesn't draft him. We hear all this nonsense about trading the #1 overall every draft, it usually doesn't materialize.

Nurse I can see slipping down to 11 if the teams ahead of us are dead set on improving their forwards. Edmonton and Carolina are supposedly the biggest threats to take him, but Edmonton was already rumored to want another center. New Jersey will most likely take a forward, flush with d prospects and are weak up front. Dallas needs some more centers as well, with a few big D prospects trying for the team this year.

I really think if Edmonton doesn't take Nurse, he will still be there for the Flyers. I also wouldn't count out moving up one or two spots to grab him. We have already talked about how we really like him for his size and d play.

Because Jones is a 100% lock to go top 3 and probably 99.9% chance of being #1. Nurse will probably be gone by 11 but all it takes is a couple of GM's who have Nurse ranked lower than people think for him to slip to us. I'd say there's about a 75% chance Nurse is gone by the time we pick but nowhere close to Jones. More than likely, another one of the guys listed will be gone by the time we pick too so it's hard to really take out guys who are all in a similar pick range. There's also a chance that if Nurse gets to within a couple picks of #11 that if Homer wants him that bad he might trade up to get him.

I would pick Morrissey or Zadorov over all of those guys.

Man this draft can't come quick enough

Cause at 11 there probably be more d-men available than forwards (who should be considered at 11th overall). That's my way of thinking about it.

From the average mock draft yes, but the Flyers list could be different.

Sure it could be but at that point there is no point to this poll at all. It's all about what we think based on what we know (rankings, mock drafts and for a select few actually watching the players).

Voted Rist. I like Nurse more but I don't see him falling to 11, so I went with Rist.

Well, looking at last years' draft - nobody expected Forsberg to drop to 11th. I think anybody could drop other than the consensus big names, it's just not very likely.

If Nurse and Ristolainen are gone, I'd take Pulock. Wouldn't shock me to see the Flyers take Shinkaruk if he's available though or even reach for a guy like they did with Jeff Carter in '03. Valetin Zykov interests me as do all the London Knights, Curtis Lazar, Anthony Mantha and Alex Wennberg. Zykov has all the tools and looks to be trending upward big time - much like Samuel Morin, another player I think they take a look at.
