Canucks have Tanev and Corrado both coming up and are both ready for more minutes, Carolina's D is absolutley horrible, Edler is a top pairing guy who can log 25 minutes a night.
Both are locked into fair contracts.
Top 4 defensemen > second line scoring wingers with concussion issues.
I must be confusing him with a different Tyler Myers. I was thinking of the one that was a healthy scratch in games the past two seasons due to poor play, only was able to play 55 games last season due to a long term injury and had a broken leg to end this season.
About the only guys I previously would have thought of as "untouchable" in order of untouchableness.
E. Semin (only because they just signed him to a long term deal so why move him now).
Losing anyone in the top 4 really doesn't help the Canes at all so can't see them moving one of them. Some Canes fans have been throwing Skinner's name around in trade proposals, but I don't see it also as the kid is only 21.
Unless Rutherford previously counted guys like Gleason and Ruutu as untouchable, I guess I don't see how moving one of the players above actually helps the team.
...and I see it as a complete steal for the Canes
I see Myers as the better player, and the cost to move up is fair.
Each to their own. Always hard comparing value of forwards vs. D, especially when talking about very young guys that have shown glimpses of what they can do, but also shown some inconsistencies. I wouldn't move down in the draft AND give up Skinner in that scenario, but whatever.
