You need to have your head examined. I almost feel insulted for Hartnell.

I would take hartnell on the leafs in a second. Phaneuf and he would half to put there differences aside. we could really use a guy like him, and for you guys who think his contract is that bad, look at what clarkson bozak and fillpula will get and they are all closing in on 30..

What would it cost from leafs??? would something like

To Toronto:
hartnell and coburn

To Phi

Gunnerson, liles, 2013 second , mid level prostpect?? or maybe we add scrievens (if bryz is bought out)

and leafs pick up bernier??

and you call this contract a bargain? check his stats through his career and you'd see which one is anomaly. He cashed in after his 37 goal season. How can you call this contract a bargain now? a year before maybe.
I don't think he cashed in, but I agree Hartnell's deal isn't a bargain. It's market value, but maybe a year too long. You only have to look at the similar contract Nashville gave Hornqvist to see that.

Not even close. Gunnarson is the only asset coming back that holds any interest.

There is absolutely no reason for the Flyers to trade a guy who is consistently, regardless of line mates, on the Flyers best line. A guy who is also one of the best defensive forwards on a team severely lacking in that category. And if the Flyers were going to trade him, they wouldn't do it when his value is at an all time low

If Hartnell is available, MacTavish would likely find a way to make it happen.

Similar to the return for Penner when he was traded (When Penner was good).

Saves Philly cap space, they get a great young offensive D and 2 picks to replenish the cupboards.
That's probably a pretty fair offer. Not certain either team would do it (Philly obviously doesn't want to trade him especially for futures and Edm should continue to build from within)

Again, probably a fair offer value-wise. Not certain I'd do it but that's fair.

Not fair value for one of Coburn/Hartnell let alone both of them. Sorry but try again.

Raphael Diaz, 25th overall, and Ryan White is fair value for Scott Hartnell? Oh boy.

No thanks to moving Hartnell. I'm not apposed to the idea just that I doubt a team would give up enough. In other words he's very valuable to the Flyers.

Oilers have loved Hartnell for years. I'm sure if he was made available then they'd be all over it.

You get equal value in trades a minimum of 50% of the time.

Let's end the Flyers/Ryan saga once and for all and just get it done:

Ryan
Allen

for

Hartnell
Coburn

Ducks D:

Fowler - Coburn
Beauchemin then some mix of: Vatanen, Lindholm, Sbisa, Souray, Lovejoy (if re-signed?)

Hartnell will hopefully bring the attitude/morale to the team that finds itself playing uninspired/lazy at times.

Flyers get Ryan finally (and shouldn't worry about keeping him later) and Allen is for salary reasons more than anything but gives them some extra depth.

Would like to have Hartnell on the Leafs, one of my favorite player and fits perfectly on our 2nd line.

Would the Flyers consider a deal based around Gunnarsson?

We don't want Allen. Or need.

Based around a mid-pair RFA? No.

Don't you know, Gunner is a 1st line D-man because he plays on the first line with Phaneuf. Of course, so is Kostka. Oh...and Franson too because his points show he is. And so is Gardiner, look at his PPG! And they have Reilly who is something special so he is a #1 C...1st paiaring at LEAST!!

There is a reason why Toronto has the best defense in the league.
and yes...this is a joke

Teams would have to overpay to get Hartnell, cause there's no reason to trade him at this point. He's a key PP guy, and has proven he can have great chemistry with Giroux.

A solid top 4 defensmean who's still young and shouldn't be really hard to re-sign, so it doesn't matter if he's a RFA.

But yeah I understand why the Flyers would not do the deal and why they would like to keep Hartnell.

Considering Carolina gave Semin a 5 year deal with an annual cap hit of $7 million I'd say Hartnell's cap hit of $4.75 million is a bargain since they'll probably score the same amount of goals.

Semin scores a lot more points than Hartnell does (career PPG of 0.88 compared to 0.55), but Hartnell's AAV is fine provided the poor season he just had was caused by the lockout and his foot injury.
