It would be funny, the way to defend against this line would be for the opposition just to sit in the corners with the puck because none of these guys go there to often.

Plekanec was struggling in his first game, but hes been much better since then ... already at 50% combined. There goes your argument. We dont need faceoff specialist ... Koivu and Begin are doing great job and Bonk is also winning his share with Pleks.

sure lets let bring back all the stiffs who made the room dry and tense . bring back the clic's ....you noticed who left right?
Gainey did what he had to do . He seen it FIRST hand .

were FINALLY getting a good feel in the room FINALLY and that's a big part of success on the ice .
I don't think Perreault was that much of a bad boy in the dressing room, more of the quiet type I guess.

I don't think Downey is the cement of the current good chemistry either. I mean if the whole dressing was bout to implode if Downey left it would say a lot about the chemistry...

I would bring back perreault if we have another injury to a centerman.

I like Perreault. He's fairly innocuous at worst, and if he'd take the league minimum of $450k, well then, we do have an extra roster spot just sitting open (at least until Bouillon comes back, for now).

On the other hand, as long as we've got a healthy team and we're fresh off a camp where Kostitsyn looked good (his AHL start hasn't had time to completely poison our minds yet) and we seem to have plenty of options... well... really why bother? Isn't the same deal going to be available a month from now if our other options are all evapourating and our injuries are mounting?

There's no harm in Perreault, he's a decent player who should be playing somewhere. But I don't really see a desperate need for him. I would neither rejoice nor riot if the Habs signed him.

No way! Why do we need to sign him? We have Pleks doing a decent job on the second line and he is learning, we also have Bonk, Begin centering the 3rd and 4th lines and Johnson who is capable at center. All of these guys including Bonk are better than Perreault (not at face-offs mind you). No need to bring on another useless center. This is not Nashville, his performance there means nothing, it does not mean he will perform like that here.

I just don't get it, we have a decent team now and kids like Kostitsyn ready for NHL duties that we don't need any more dead wood. We didn't even need Samsonov.

I love this team the way it is!

What do you think ?
Three years ago, sure. Today? Not a chance in hell.

What harm does having a bonafide #1 faceoff man who can kill penalties and is overall sound defensively have at a salary of $500,000?

Perreault proved last year he can still put up numbers on a line with some talent as well so sticking in-between Sammy and Kovy and moving Pleks down to center Perez and Johnson would improve the team IMO. Pleks has been struggling faceoff wise and we need another strong faceoff man so that Koivu doesn't get burnt out having to come on the ice to play to take the last 5-10 minutes worth of important faceoffs in close games (which the habs seem to be playing lately)

If Perrault falters, oh well, $500,000 decently spent.
I say sign him

Perreault should just call it a career. He has no place on our team.

I like the idea of adding veteran center depth at some point this season, but I think the Habs could do better than Perreault.

Since when has Perreault been decent defensively? I think, besides his skating issues, that was why they let him go in the first place.

Yanic Perrreault is kinda God and a nice guy I hope he find a place in the NHL as a number 2 centre soon.

He may score 25 goals yet again and I do listen to Avril Lavigne very often but that a bit OT
