The whole 35+ thing is really only a big issue if he wants to walk away.

Just last week, everyone was worried about kimmos end, well we have basically extended that window now 3 more years...it's really not that big of a deal.

I'd rather pay ms 5.5 than carle that.

No players traded, no picks dealt...it's a win.

Can we use a compliance buyout on Streit?

I said three years would be ideal orginally but if four it would be liveable.

I was hoping for 3 years no more that 5.5 per. 4 seems to be getting excessive for a 35 year old unless it drops the cap hit down to 4.5. Even then I would rather the 3 year deal

It's going to be great when everyone is moaning in a year or two about this contract. Signing him until he is 40? LOL There are no words. He gets rid of bad contracts just to bring on more.

5.5 for 4 years could really set the team back. Streit will provide quite a bit initially, but 3 or 4 years from now, this contract could be a major problem. Let's see if it's actually 5.5 though before Drano.

A year too much but what can you do. Weak market bought him it. Time to see the money.

Oh and Streit >>>>> Carle... dont care how old or "slowing down" he has been.

Do you guys ever wish you were fans of a team that wasn't always so aggressive in the offseason? To know that every once in a while it's a boring summer?

Guess that means expectations are high and the fans hold them to it.

you cant get everyone for 2mil for 1 year guys. this guy is a great player, in today's NHL, 35 is not old though it is certainly not a fresh pair of legs. he will be a great guy to have around, and if he's getting paid the same as carle and actually decides to sign with us in a market where dmen are coveted, then i'm happy.

if its above 6 mil per tho ill die

Eh. Hopefully nothing happens to him until 2017 because a possible ~10.5 million in dead space every offseason is a tremendous issue.

We can't go a single offseason without it. It's like being attached to a conjoined twin who occasionally likes to get blasted on meth. You might not want any part of it yourself, but tough ****, it's happening anyways.

It's how Flyer fandom goes. We might not want these annual moves, but by God, we're getting them no matter what.

I'm really, really hoping the number is below 5. Preferably 4.5.

Two years too long and that is generous. There were only 4 38 year old defenders in the league at the start of this season. He turns 36 this year. It's a nice pipedream that he's going to hold up, but the odds are against it.

Just a question to all the complainers:

Let's say he gets 1M more per year than all of us think he's worth....

who the bleep cares???

Its 1 million out of 64! and we all know that 64 number is going up.

We buyout bryz and briere and we have a ton of space still.

Seriously, everybody calm down. He would have gotten a lot on the open market. He fills a need, we got him. We got better, can't we just be happy? lol... Let the front office worry about the friggin cap.

And seriously, stop worrying about the possibility of him retiring. He's 35, and doesnt have much wear on him. If he does, he does, we deal with it then. But I believe he will easily play 4 more years.

I'm waiting to hear the money before I jump the gun. I know that's unheard of around here but I'm going to give it a try.

The summer they signed Ossi Vaananen was super boring.

i don't mind 4 years, as long as they were able to get him at a 4-5mil cap hit, no more.

I don\t mind getting him but what need is he filling? in all honesty he is a terrible defender and is good on the pp our pp is already pretty good so I don\t see him filling any needs
