Unless his cap hit is ridiculously low I don't think it matters. At least two of those years are a good bet to be throwaways and at his age there is a chance all 4 could be. Whether its $4 or $5M is meaningless when the years are the biggest risk.

Interesting... disappointed in how many years he signed for, but hopefully that lowers his hit. I guess we'll see.

Don't like four years, but I suppose we don't have a choice if we want to fix our D in the short term. It's certainly better than losing Couturier to "fix" the problem.

But if it's above $5m, I'll be a little displeased. I don't know what the cap will be in four years, but I can be sure Streit won't be worth that cap hit by that time.

Our problem wasn't really our defenders in our own zone it was more of our defenders not being able to join the attack and get the puck out of our own zone which Streit can provide.

The cap difference between three and four year contracts can't be as much because of the new 10% rule with the CBA. Not a good deal.

This is the deal's only saving grace. I'd rather have Streit than give up on Couturier or BSchenn.

i'll agree with that but we never cover guys in our own zone and he is not going to be one to do it

Just don't be shocked when that happens anyway.

I'm sorry, but Streit will never solve any defensive problems. He is a huge defensive liability. After his injuries, he has not been same
player as he used to be. Even tho he might be a good PP QB, sometimes.

I hope that you guys don't pay him more than 3M, but he was asking for something around 5.5-6M here.

Out of the Islanders 6 defenders, Striet faced the 3rd hardest competition. 4 out of 6 in Corsi Relative (Harmonic was the worse though)

That's a bad contract. I would have just let him walk at that price. Holmgren and Snider have lost their minds.

Typical Homer. He better play up to that contract since he wanted it.

The whole 35+ thing is really only a big issue if he wants to walk away.

Just last week, everyone was worried about kimmos end, well we have basically extended that window now 3 more years...it's really not that big of a deal.

I'd rather pay ms 5.5 than carle that.

No players traded, no picks dealt...it's a win.
This is my feeling too. It gives the team time to draft and develop a young defenseman or two. Assuming of course, that they actually do draft a young defenseman or two.

Meszaros better be gone.

This should be a signal that the Flyers believe they can want he cup this season. I don't think this move is enough on its own to fix the Flyers deficiencies.

God i hope streit has been taking massive amounts of steroids this offseason.

1. improved play
either/or
2. fails drug test and voided contract.
