Would be fun to have it done before the actual draft.
I'd rather have it after the actual draft, to make draft day more intense, getting some scouting done to make great picks here, avoiding those who were drafted too early imo, and nabbing those who dropped too late imo, and we will see in the coming year or two how right or wrong we were!
This is not just a one-off mock draft; JM runs leagues for seasons, so let's play the long game.
I think it should BY FAR be done before the draft. It makes it a lot cooler. Then you get to see where each player goes. See if your guy gets drafted by a team where he may thrive (e.g. Philadelphia for a forward), or where he may suffer.
It should be done after the draft. This is fantasy hockey, and which team picks which player affects their fantasy value - i.e. If Pittsburgh picks another center, chances of him getting a scoring role is almost nonexistent. I'd like to make my pick knowing how good of a chance the prospects have of making the league.
The draft will be before the actual NHL draft, as usual. I don't think we've ever done it after. For one, I prefer seeing where players go after we've drafted. Last year I took Hampus Lindholm at like 15, and he went 6th. More importantly, my summer is going to be consumed and really before the draft is the best time for me.
I'll get a draft thread going and we can start soon.
Also, we basically have everyone back except dustyrockon.. (Chicago) He always comes back to the league so I will assume he's in and we can get started on finding replacements. Waiting on Carolina, for now we'll keep him as CAR's GM.
i am here and ready to deal. The have a couple holes I would like to fill using prospects and picks to go for a win!
also...what happens if a team buys a guy out for example, I have Briere. Do I get a lower cap hit when he signs elsewhere?
here is my roster:
Jeff Skinner - John Tavares - Danny Briere
Brandon Saad - Artem Anisimov - Alex Killorn
Jussi Jokinen - Paul Gaustad - Cam Atkinson
Benoit Pouliot- Wojtek Wolski - Chad Larose
Jay Bouwmeester - Matt Carle
Marc-Edouard Vlasic - Joe Corvo
Keith Aulie - Ben Lovejoy
bold are only untouchables, but I am looking to get better so the young guys go first. I'm looking for a top D. my 1st round picks and a lot will be offered for one, could use a center as well
