I trust McKenzie more than anyone in the media. Hopefully NJ jumps on Briere.

Bryz needs to go to a small market, but that goes without saying.

Briere and Bryz both being bought out, and Pronger on LTIR are the only way Philly can move forward. Otherwise, the cap is going to utterly cripple the team.

I could also see a case for having Hartnell bought out too, but Briere makes more sense.

Bryz needs to take his bank from the buyout and sign a nice retirement contract in the KHL.

They would never buy out Hartnell. He could be traded to several teams for a good return.

Good riddance. Dragged the team down the last 2 or so years

For those saying they want him on their team : He wants to stay close to this area because his kids live in NJ and he has split custody of the kids. I don't think he goes to anywhere other than NJ, NYI, NYR, or WSH

The Flyers are insane. I cannot imagine running a company like this.

Crippling negative cash from from buyouts, and they still have cap problems.

Has anyone pointed out yet the incredible implications to future caps due to the Bryz buyout? Check out the '19 and '20 seasons. Bizarre.

That's the regular buyout calculation. They'll use a compliance buyout on him, negating any cap consequence.

Edit: Or I could have re-checked the thread before hitting reply after leaving the window open a while and not replied the same thing as Krishna, 3 minutes later lol =/

40 minute flight from PHI to NJ...1 hour 10 minutes from Ottawa or Toronto. Really anywhere in the northeast would be logistically comparable for the Briere family.

Sure, if you leave out all the time he'd spend in and out of air ports.

It is well known. But everyone needs to try to break the story because hits.

If I may be so rude...if Briere had a choice between Ottawa and NJ, would he not take his hometown? Not only are they on the upswing in a big way, he could be a big part of the veteran leadership core and still only be an hour away from his family by plane.

The same could be said for the Rangers. Do they need another forward? Do the Caps need another forward?

I don't see a fit more perfect than Ottawa where he can come in, be Spezza's winger presumably, or take over a line of his own with a couple of young, exciting players. Be a part of a team that's going places. The only other place that would intrigue me if I was him would be the Islanders - and are they looking to add a forward right now?

I love what Danny did for us, but I don't know why people want him on their team now. He's useless out there

Why would he need to fly to Newark? The drive from where he lives is just about an hour and ten minutes

you'd be surprised what a change of scenery, motivation and a chance to prove yourself does to somebody. Remember Teemu in Colorado?

Briere's play has rapidly diminished over the past 2 seasons. He produced offensively in the '11-'12 playoffs but was still awful defensively. I loved him as a player in Philly, but his time is up. He hurt the Schenn and Simmonds line this season more than he helped.
