Tampa really has no reason to move. Either way, at #3, they win.

I'm one of the few people who believe Drouin will end up being the best player to come out of this draft, so I wouldn't demand much to swap picks. Killorn maybe? I'm not sure how the Lightning fanbase views him. I'd accept a 2014 2nd if he's too valuable.

Killorn is a no go. By far the most impressive forward from Syracuse and it shows how much Yzerman likes him that Killorn never returned to Syracuse. I would just keep the 3rd or even move down one or two spots. Maybe if Nashville really wants Drouin we can get an extra mid pick from them and take Bark over.

Drouin on ice vision and hockey IQ are gold. I also beleive that he is the best of the top 3.

That is one of the funniest proposals I've ever seen.

Condition picks, not even in this years draft, to move down.

Also, as an outsider, I don't understand the notion that the Av's lack defensive prospects. Obviously they could improve defensively at the NHL level, but they have Siemens, Barrie, and Elliott which is a solid base of defensive prospects, so I don't really see where Koekkoek helps them there since he is 2-3 years away.

We need one more guy with high end potential. Specifically someone to play the left side. Koekkoek is a lefty, Jones we could move to left. But as it stands long term we have...

Blank - EJ
Siemens - Barrie
Blank - Elliott

Beaupre looks promising for a steady bottom pairing guy in a few years, but we still need another top four guy for the future and paying for one through free agency would be too costly probably.

Anyways, long story short, I'm not sold on Koekkoek enough to make the swap using our 2nd, maybe our 3rd. I like Drouin a lot, but to drop to him and solve TB's defensive needs long term with a monster Hedman-Jones pairing should cost more than a Koekkoek for 32nd OV (where a guy like Mueller or Theodore will be if we need a defender and both have 2nd pairing upside) swap.

I'd take Jones + Petan/Mueller over Drouin + Koekkoek, so it'd need to be a 3rd at max for me, maybe something a little more valuable that's not the 2nd.

If Tampa needs defense badly, you better believe they'd pay a kings ransom if they want to grab Seth Jones because Colorado also needs defense badly. If Florida needs a center and hypothetically the Avs are likely drafting Mac, you better believe they'll pay a kings ransom. I feel this is a draft of need, not BPA
This is how I see it, Jones could resolve all the Lightning problems, but like we all know the avs have some D problem themself but they already have Johnson as RHD so I believe that it could be a better fit if they could get a good LHD prospect and Drouin instead of Jones alone.

So basically Colorado goes down the order for two 4th rounders...Seems legit.

How high is Tampa on Connolly? Would they do 3rd + Brett Connolly for 1st?

Very high, they wouldn't do that.

TB isnt moving up or down. I think they will be happy with whoever they get at 3. Mackinnon, Drouin, Jones, Barkov, hell I could see them even draft Nichushkin. All good players and TB will be happy they got him.

you don't believe that Jones could be more usefull than any other player that they could draft ? He's a RHD and Hedman is LH, I think they could become one of the best duo of D for some years to come.

Would we prefer Jones? Sure.. but I think it would just cost too much to move up and get him when we will have a player at 3 that we NEED as well and still be able to retain those assets.

If the Avs just don't care for Jones and MacKinnon and/or have a wild hair up their ass about Drouin I could see a modest swap taking place.

So what you're saying is the Avs should trade the first for Hedman?

That's way too much, honestly.

I'm of the mind that if we think Jones is the BPA, he certainly fills an organizational need... I'd pull the trigger on moving for him with Koekkoek + 3rd for 1st + 3rd rounder. I'm probably in the minority, though, and I am really not sold on Koekkoek, so it's easy for me to move him.
