I like Monahan over Lindholm because he's a bigger more physical force however I think Lindholm's skating ability would fill an important niche on a top line meaning it wouldn't be as crucial to find a fleet footed winger to play with him.

If we stay at 8, at least one of Monahan, Lindholm and Nurse will be there. I think that is the order I would prefer them at our selection.

Taller doesn't equal bigger. Lindholm has quite a bit of size on Monahan.

I know for a fact that shea would like to go to another team and believes he will be traded at some point. But its not just that shea wants them to build a winner, it goes back to trading away one of his best friends(franson) and he knows as well as anyone that its a business but that one did hurt a bit. And so did the arbitration fiasco. Nashville really pissed him off on that one.

Staying at 8, my preferences:

1.) Any of the top 5 that unrealistically slips

2.) Lindholm

3.) Monahan

4.) Ristolianen

5.) Nurse

Same, though if they took Risto over Monahan I wouldn't be devastated.

I wouldn't mind the Sabres taking Horvat at 8 if Monahan is gone. Horvat can also play wing which would give either Hodgson or Grigs a complete 2 way player playing on their wing that can also score and play in the top 6.

If the top 4, Lindholm, Monahan and Ristolaenen are gone, I'd take Horvat at 8 if I can't trade back a spot or two. I'm hoping that we get one of the three above at 8 because Nurse or Nichushkin get picked in the top 7. If it does happen, I'd be looking to trade up from 16 to get Horvat.

I'd rather either C/F at 8....neither would bother me.

If neither are on the board, it wouldn't bother me much if they took Nurse over Risto.

But, I think I'd be a bit perturbed if they took Risto or Nurse over either Monahan or Lindholm.

Id love to see the Sabres trade up from 16 and get Domi as well. Getting the london boys Horvat and Domi would be a great draft for the Sabres IMO. Two I don't care about anything but the Stanley Cup type players with skill in your top 6 yes please.

Dumb question and probably already answered somewhere but are they going to let the 1st founders go on stage and put on a jersey, being that the whole draft is on Saturday? I love watching the prospects' faces light up and just be happy bf all the competition stuff begins.

I don't see any reason they'd change it, that's part of the fun! The draft is on a Sunday this year.

Thanks. I hope. And I knew it was June 30th. I guess I never bothered looking at a calendar.

And having greater mass doesn't matter if you don't use it. Monahan uses his size to be bigger (because it needs to be spelled out, he plays a physical style) Lindholm uses his size to cover more ice (be in passing lanes and hold his ground).

Monahan as a big bodied physical pressence and Lindholm as a rangy smooth skating player. But as you point out Lindholm isn't small which is why as I said I'd take him and be a happy camper.

I don't consider Monahan to be more physical. Lindholm throws his weight around constantly. He bangs people all night and is more than willing to go into dirty areas. Not sure where the whole "size doesn't matter if you don't use it" argument is coming from, because Elias definitely uses it.

That's fantastic, good for you. What part of I'd take Lindholm over Monahan isn't getting through?

I'll admit that part of me prefers Monahan over Lindholm because this organization hasn't had a North American with his combination of attributes in a very long time.

Yep, the last one I attended in '02 was all day in Toronto. The later rounds really fly too.

They split it up to get more spectacle. That said, I prefer the single day.

We sat for most of it behind the Hunter brothers. Talk about some great info.

I'm not sure I follow. Why are you even considering nationality?
