Patrice Bergeron

LeBrun on Bergeron a few days ago.....

Quote:
Speaking of contracts, look for the Boston Bruins to sign star center Patrice Bergeron to a long-term extension. Bergeron has another season left on his deal but the Bruins will ink him this summer and very likely to the maximum eight years allowed in the CBA when re-signing your own players.
http://espn.go.com/blog/nhl/post/_/i...and-whos-going

So much does he get? Has to be at least $6M/yr but how high do they go?

Please no trade proposals. He's not going anywhere. Just curious what everyone thinks his next contract will look like.

6-7 years at 5.5-6.0 million, hell probably take a hometown discount.

8/6 is my guess. Our future captain and the glue of our team. He's pretty decent at hockey, too.

He wants to be here and we want him here even more. The guy can do no wrong. He's literally a hero here in Boston, on and off the ice.

I don't see how he accepts anything less than $7 mil/year.

That seems very high to me. I say he takes 6 years, $34.5 million ($5.75 per)

He's probably the best all around forward in the game. I'm sure his agent is highly aware of this. He's getting $7 mil +, and it will be a bargain.

I'd say he gets around 6-7. Honestly I'd have no problem giving him Perry/Getzlaf money if he hit UFA.

I think he could get 8-9 if he goes to UFA. He will probably take a discount but i doubt he goes for less than 7 million per.

That seems really low. How about 8 years, $54 M ($6.75 M)

Grabovski and a 2nd?

But seriously, I'd expect 8 years 56 million to be about right. #1C's aren't cheap.

I'm curious as to which Boston forward gets traded. They can't keep Bergeron, Seguin, Krejci, Marchand AND Lucic, can they?

8 years 6.5 per. More than enough cash security and ultimately ensures he more than likely will end his career as a Bruin.

I don't see a penny less than 6.75. If he were a UFA, I'd dance in the street to sign him at 7+ million.

Hopefully his agent does his job. If Perry and Getzlaf can get 8.6M a year. Then Bergeron should get at least 7.5M even with the "hometown" discount. Go make your money young man.

Yes, comfortably.

They have a tonne of young d that cost them next to nothing. They're probably losing Horton and Ference this offseason and will just continue to be a force.

That's exactly the number and term I was going to suggest as well. Although if it got up into the $6.75m-$7.0m range I really wouldn't be too upset. He is too invaluable not to get extended.

Amazing player! Someone who is solid during the regular season and freaking awesome in the playoffs. 7-7.5 seems a good deal for me. I think he will be close to 7.

I think he takes 8 years @ 6-6.25 mil per. Bergeron realizes what it takes to play on a winner and will take a discount to allow for that to continue IMO.

Anything under 7 is a steal. Probably a benchmark for Toews and Kesler's next contracts as well.

I wouldn't dare give Kesler that kind of money, definitely not in a class with Bergeron and Toews

I hate to admit but this guy is better than Toews. Bruins best forward. That being said I hope he charges them an arm and a leg so they are forced to lose some depth and not be so unstoppable.

You can't be for real right? Remember who won the Selke first. Or scored 40 goals first. Who had 70+ points first? Come on man. If there were ever 3 players ever so comparable it would be these three guys being mentioned. Also Toews is the only one who hasn't really had a bad stretch of seasons with injury worries. Bergeron and Kesler have just at different times.

Bergeron is worth anything he asks for from Boston. The guy should be your #1 choice for Conn Smythe this year and has been amazingly healthy since his concussion a couple years ago.

6.5-7.5 per IMO. Anything lower than that is an absolute sweetheart deal.

8 years, $56 million on a hometown discount and worth every penny...wish the Habs had him.
