they're all waiver-safe. id be shocked if gillis doesn't go with exclusively who performs the best in the TC games which could very easily be cannata

Bit of an overstatement. It's unlikely, but entirely possible.

Cannata is a decent prospect, and has played well despite the fact he hasn't ever been given the same workload that Lack has, but that just means we don't know how he'd perform. Could out-perform Lack.

Depends on how much Cannata improves this summer. Lack is still rehabing.

Looks like a healthy 3 way (or more) competition in training camp. I wouldn't be surprised if Gillis also brought in a veteran backup.

Can't imagine it being him. He's not there yet. He was fine in the AHL but I wouldn't put him anywhere near Lack's level and given Eriksson's stats in the SEL, I would be surprised if he isn't better than Cannata. Cannata needs quite a bit more coaching and work on his technique, his fitness could also use quite a bit of work. He's quite pudgy right now and lateral movement is merely average to above-average.

Reading this thread and comparing it to the comments on the fan page on Facebook is night and day. I face palmed so hard today the inside if the back of my head has my palm print.

He's signed by the Canucks and we're not, so I say he's smarter than most.
If there are no other offers then sure but if he had an opportunity to go to a team where he'd be higher in the order then he made a mistake by coming to Vancouver.

yeah, you're probably right.

only pointing out that this is absolutely going to be a merit based victory, none of that "well we might lose our 16th forward to waivers" nonsense but with goalies

Could this guy beat out Lack? And would that make Lack a trading chip worth anything decent? We've seen guys like Bishop go for 2 seconds after being solid in the AHL...

Bishop has a much better resume than Lack at this point, and Lack is coming off serious hip surgery.

yeah probably the worst time to trade Lack now when his stock has sunk due to injury.

All 30 NHL teams know Lack is a good goalie. He could probably be a starter in a few years.

It's okay, if it's in a 3-way?

Perhaps he likes the way Vancouver develops Goaltenders?
