I have always thought that was a possibility and mentioned it a couple of times. It still may not happen but it is still possible. And if it does happen the Habs won't be the only team bidding... look for the Leafs to go after him in a big way. He is the kind of center they are looking for

Dont think for a second Habs wont go for him....marketing dream.

The real question will be ,will he come to Montreal if he does get bought out..that's where it will get real interesting..lol Imagine is he doesn't....

Anyways,i would be all for reuniting Vinny and Brad on the Habs at fair prices.
Brad even speaks french ,so bonus for this market.

if this does happen we'd be fools to not atleast weigh the pro's and cons. if he's gonna be making 7 million for the forseeable future from tampa than i gotta believe he would be willing to sign for significantly cheaper than he's worth on a good team and try to win the cup....would he be willing to come home? who knows.
he's 33 just turned 33 on april 21st...he just put up 32 points in 39 games...he's got size and skill we all know that and he is a proven playoff performer....but can he be what he once was and how long can he give us? till he's 36? 5 million, 3 years max for me...if we can justify paying gionta 5 we can do this and we can get alot more out of vinny

Brad as in Richards? Speaks french?

Anyways how can you get Vinny and Brad on the Habs at fair prices? Do they even want to come to begin with. There are 28 other teams out there that they could be interested in...

People used to joke that a washed up lecavalier would eventually end up in Montreal.

I see it now, we move plekanec for lecavalier like we moved koivu for gomez. Lecavalier comes in and scores 17 goals in 82 games. Bergevin is then surprised that Desharnais generate fewer points than st-louis, given his elite vision. RDS proceeds to blame Pacioretty.

The Habs will move guys out to make room for Vinny bank that.
Vinny =marketing gold.
If Rangers buyout Richards,Habs will go for him also..to reunite Vinny with Brad.

2013 Habs

Vinny 4.5 million
Richards 4.5 million
Briere 4 million

Lol

Right, briere-lecavalier-Desharnais will be the first line, no Pacioretty, my mistake.

Tampa Tribune, Spector's, mentioned on radio in TO the other day as a possibility. Makes a lot of sense.

Would be a great add. Local star, allow Galchenyuk and Eller to develop properly and be the forces they can be in 2-3 years.

If anyone get's moved for Vinny it'll be DD. Pleks is our best all around centre. No need to move him, especially not over DD.

Our centremen would no doubt be:

Plex
Vinny
Eller

I would keep Plekanec and put Galchenyuk with Lecavalier.

Yes, but you're ignoring the SQ value (Sarcasm Quotient) of adding Vinny while subtracting Plekanec. It would be a media orgasm of newspapers, radio interviews, golf tournament appearances, TV panel discussions, sponsorship deals and arena dedications.

One day, possibly yes. Next year, not so much.

Gally isn't ready to play full time centre based on last years peformance and habs won't rush him. Besides, do you really think we're going to move our top 2 centres?? Really???

Plex
Vinny
Eller

In the future who knows, but next year's roster will not have Galchenyuk as a centre, at least not at the beginning of the year and not until he shows he can play that position well.

Clutterbuck would be great on our 3rd line, imo...

Indeed, as I just posted on the main board Bergevin should be all over this. Even Konopka if he doesn't bring Halpern back. Konopka is a pretty good faceoff taker as well

Yeah. When I saw he was apparently available, I thought he could be a good addition for our bottom 6.

Oooo, that's what I said on the big board. The physical side is obvious but he's starting to show some more offensive potential as well. Would absolutely love him here.
