really shows how big the hole we dug early in the season.

We've won 6 straight... and we're still easily dead last in the AL East.

Winning something like 17-18 out of 20 could put us back in the conversation for the wildcard. But as it is right now, this 6 game winning streak still has us pretty far back.

we are 5.5 games back with 93 games left...we don't need any of these suggested streaks..just keep winning series

We had a double digit deficit on the wildcard a little while back and we're now sitting 5.5 games back of Texas with roughly 90 games to go. How are we not in the conversation for it?

Take 17-18 out of 20 and we likely catapult into one of the wildcard spots.

The winning streak helped the Jays shave 5 games off their wild card deficit in a matter of a week.

Thinking grand scheme of things, there are roughly 15 weeks left in the season. The Jays need to make up 1 game every 3 weeks on the 2nd wild card leader to grab one of those berths. Completely doable.

Similarly, they are 8 back of the division lead. Making up a game every other week is also doable.

I was rash about being in the dumps about this season as many others were, but the baseball season is long with lots of ebbs and flows. Hopefully what the Jays experienced in April is all they are going to endure this season and that they got it out of their system unlike other years when it's a bad July or August that does them in. They can't afford any more major slumps and hopefully it continues to be up from here.

i wonder whens the last time (if ever) all teams in one divsion finished above .500? the al east has great potential to do it

edit: after some brief research in 2005 the NL east had 4 teams above 500 and 1 team at 500, only time ever a team was not below 500 in a division..so AL east has potential to be first division ever with all teams above 500

We're like 5 GB. That isn't that far out. Plus over 90 games left with Reyes back soon. The point is just pass teams for now. The less teams in front of you the better. We have the 2nd best record in the AL since May 5 or something (23-15). That's a month and a half. We keep playing like that over that amount of time we'll be in.

90 wins gives you a good shot so of we can get there, we can get in. It's like the 93 point cutoff in hockey.

Because they haven't jumped any teams in their own division? Just saying the biggest downfall of this team is the record in their own division. Sure it can change but until it does and until the team gets over .500 this talk of playoffs is very premature.

they aren't getting hammered vs. the other teams, but below .500 vs 3 of 4 divisional opponents isn't doing you any favours

I don't know if the rayzor's the only thing that's dull...we've made up ground on everybody, it's not going to happen overnight. Wait until we get to the all-star break and then assess at that point, no need to continually make early judgements on this team.

Who's making early judgments?

id assume the implication is everybody who thinks 5 gb with 93 to play means the playoffs are out of reach...but id also venture to guess the same applies for everybody who crowned the jays prior to the season starting.

they're playing well now, dug themselves a ridiculous hole, but the team is talented enough to dog themselves out of it. hopefully they continue this hot streak, win 17-18 out of 20 and then EVERYBODY can be happy. criticisms would be hard to come by in that case

We have yet to have our full team healthy at te same time. As of right now it's just baby steps ad taking it a game at a time which is what has been done for the past month, winning series.

With Morrow, Reyes and Lawrie all due back very soon.. This team has a good chance to continue what they are doing currently, even doing 3/4 of what they are doing and were still in a good position come the break.

Game at a time folks, it sure feels good to see some quality ball being played again.

Couldn't watch the game last night but it looks like jj has his best start as a jay. Too bad he couldn't pick up his first w as a jay. Great to see

Yunel Escobar grounds into a double play with bases loaded and 1 out. Where have I seen this before.

the jays are playing better and the bounces are starting to go their way..last night in the 8th both teams had runners on 3rd with less than 2 outs, the COL guy hits a liner right at Lind and the izturis hits a flare that drops..that was the difference right there

with 4 series vs. divisional rivals before the all-star game. I think it's a safe bet to say that we'll know whether or not this is a playoff team by then.

sorry, I just found it funny that you pointed out that the game winning hit was the difference in the game.

Also known as Carlos Gonzalez. That was a remarkable play. Defense and pitching were shining last night. Hopefully we get a bit of the 3 catalyst tonight.

I was at the game, and even though it was a sparse crowd, it was by far the biggest and loudest ovation I've heard/seen this year for a starter. He may not have gotten his accolades on paper, but he certainly got it from the fans.

for those that watch the games and not just the box scores wouldnt you say maicer izturis has had the worst luck of any hitter? seems like he hits a liner right at someone or the defensive player makes a great play..crazy..great to see him get the winner, also he was 2-3 but should have been 3-3 in a game where the jays had 3 total hits

Drafted him late in my baseball pool. What a steal.
