The Leafs could use Clutterbuck as a replacement for the departed Leo Komarov. Leo played an important role, and Clutterbuck is a similar player. (Even better)

How about Miller (retained salary) + Gerbe for Heatley + Dumba or something along those lines?

You get under the cap and you get your win now no. 1 goalie.

That fact was widely reported as one incentive in Suter signing with the Wild last year - I'd be surprised if Fletcher would cut bait on Gilbert so soon after the recruiting of Suter, even if it makes sense economically.

I hope Vancouver jumps all over the chance to pick up Konopka. Buddy is exactly what we need to actually have a fourth line.

Oilers have interest in a guy like Konopka, especially with Belanger and Horcoff leaving.

Also some interest in Clutterbuck.

I would add all three to the Oilers roster. Every team needs a Clutterbuck so thats a given. Konopka addresses toughness and someone that can win a ****ing faceoff! Gilbert while expensive would be fine on the second pairing with Petry. If he is bought out I could see him coming back to Edmonton

Agreed.

We are looking for a youngish RW who is physical and hard to play against. Clutterbuck fits that description.

Cost?

I would expect something along the lines of Tanev and possibly a middling prospect or mid round pick. If Minnesota is trading Clutterbuck they'll be looking for cheap contracts that fill a need and Tanev is exactly that. Tanev has been playing like a top 4 defensemen all of last season, and he is likely due for a cheaper bridge contract due to his age. The only way I'd do it is if we could get Clutterbuck under contract for a good rate. He's a RFA coming off of a pretty sub par season, I certainly wouldn't want to give up Tanev and have to over pay Clutterbuck.

I'd rather keep Dumba. We're thin on D.

It'd never happen, but I would love to watch a game with Matt Martin and Clutterbuck on the same line.

People seem interested in Clutterbuck for Niskanen and swapping Rupp and Glass would save you 400k in cap space.

There have been quite a few enquiries about our needs so I might as well give my take on it:

Our absolutely biggest need is top-4 D. It seems like most other teams would be interested in Clutterbuck, so perhaps a deal could be made around him and a D-man coming back to our direction. I'd be happy to include other pieces with Clutter if necessary, we desperately need that top-4 D

Gilbert was pretty brutal this year tbh and he comes with a 4M cap hit. However, he performed well for us in 2011-2012 after we acquired him from Edmonton and if he rebounds he could be a good PMD for someone. Don't really know what his value would be like, he could be packaged with Clutter imo or traded separately. I personally wouldn't want to see Konopka go, but if he does I doubt the return would be substantial, probably a pick.

After we have dealt with our top-4 D issue I guess we would look at opportunities to move up in the draft. Our first pick is 46th, we could package it with a player to move closer to the first round or just try to get us another second rounder by moving a roster player.

So basically, what were looking for are a top-4 D, first and/or second round picks and cap relief. At least imo anyway. So try to avoid offering us your big-salaried players in return, unless you're willing to retain some salary of theirs.

We could also use a 2nd line C or some secondary scoring but that's another discussion entirely. I'd stick to the top-4 D and early picks for now. (Wonder if I emphasized our need for a top-4 D enough)

Konopka for 5th. Clutterbuck for a 3rd. Assuming they are traded during the draft.

Wishful thinking I guess.
