I agree, this is a paper loss based on expected revenue generation over a full season. Nice tax write off and call it a day.

5x5 for Juicy? Hes a lot better than Pavs, Pavs got 4, Add inflation, subtract the cap, that gives me 5-5.25mil x 5 years.

Wilson may overpay UFAs, but he doesn't overpay his own guys. Thornton, Marleau, Pavelski, Burns, Vlasic... the list goes on of guys he's signed to below-market extensions.

Wilson only overpays players he acquired at the deadline (Wallin, Huskins, etc.) or 3rd/4th line grinders (Burish, Handzus, etc.)

Couture is neither of those.

Seto was hardly overpaid... And I get the feeling he was on the block anyway.

Frankly, the cap hit won't really matter. By the time this extension kicks in, we'll have plenty of space.

Hard to complain about that price point. Guessing that's the benchmark for highest paid player in the future. Will be nice if we can keep contracts bellow $7M

Of course it's Bob breaking the news, not Kurz/Brodie.

Steep but he had a gentleman's agreement with DW after signing a cheap contract.

And he went out and proved to wilson that he deserved whatever they were thinking the ball park was also.

Unlike some of the gentlemans agreements we have thought happened with the sharks

He is already on markeaus footing, and unless something drastically changes in couture will never even come close to thornton.

Couture now unless he gets better or gets drastically overpaid. Has just signed his ceiling in my opinion.
