Any word on whether we have shown any interest in Valtteri Filppula? I think he'd be a perfect LW on a line with Schenn and Simmonds. He'd provide much-needed skill and can rely on Schenn and Simmonds to do the mucking and grinding on that line.

He had a disappointing 2012-13 season, but he was fantastic last season and should command somewhere between $4.5m and $5.5m for 4-5 years. Still, I think we are still struggling to fill the offensive whole that left when JVR and Jagr were let go.

Cool man, welcome. Fun time of the season, even if it includes crazy ass rumors!

I have thought the same thing. I like Filppula's game a lot. I just think another team will be able to pay him more. The Flyers should definitely take a look at him if possible, though.

Filppula would be a great addition but I'm still holding out for Bobby Ryan

Do you mean when he becomes a UFA in summer 2015? Or do you want to trade Brayden or Couturier for him? Filppula could be had now, and without trading any of our top young players.

If we can sign Filppula for 4.5-5.5 a year for 4 years why cant we sign Read for 3.75-4 million a year? I don't understand

Dreger was just on NHL network taling about us. He says Holmgrens pretty set on not moving Brayden or Couturier now, if it was still debateable. Also says Flyers could definitelyconsider Emery....

So this is just complete speculation, but we have seen voracek, 11th overall, read, and bernier all being discussed so far with this trade. Maybe it's bigger than we thought, maybe LA has a certain defenseman they think might be expendable with the emergence of voynov?? Just thinking out loud.

I dont know if there is a defenseman other than Doughty or Voynov, even in a package deal, that would be worth trading Voracek for.

If you are referring to Doughty, then dream on. He's not going anywhere. Doughty, Voynov, and Regehr are staying in LA. You could probably add Greene to that list. Mitchell will possibly be on LTIR and wouldn't make sense to trade. That leaves Muzzin and Martinez as potential trade targets. Neither excites me at all.

Well that Steit contract doesn't look so bad if it means those two stay and we don't overpay for Yandle etc.

Are you thinking Doughty? I'm not sure I would give up all that for Bernier and Doughty. Who would take over for Read and Voracek? If they can finagle a deal for Horton I might be ok with it. I sincerely doubt that this is what is being discussed (although I would have said the same thing when Richards and Carter were dealt), but if it is a lineup like this could be pretty sick (idk what Horton is going to be looking for so I just went with $6 mil. If that is too high or too low adjust accordingly)...

My Custom Lineup

Scott Hartnell ($4.750m) / Claude Giroux ($3.750m) / Nathan Horton ($6.000m)

Simon Gagne ($2.500m) / Scott Laughton ($1.107m) / Tye McGinn ($0.775m)

Exactly. How bad would we look in 2 years when Schenn/Couturier were traded away and are the stars that they have potential to be. This is the most overlooked facet to Streits contract. Couturier is going to breakout next season, think 45-50 points. Does anyone have word on where/with who he is training this summer?

Voracek was just Panotch giving his worthless/baseless opinion. I don't think the Kings could realistically afford him right now with no picks in the first three rounds this year and no real big fish prospects in the system so it would have to come from within their core.

I don't care if Voynov was in the deal, trading Voracek for anything short of completely massive over payment would be an atrocious mistake. He's our only winger that isn't dependent on a strong center to lead the way.

Another poster (renegade) relayed that info to HF. I believe both sites have been purged of their information.

Some of Playmaker's other stuff on the Flyers hasn't been deleted though, and clearly he had a contact. Just been looking back through it, and although he gets some things right, he gets a fair few wrong. Just goes to show the delicate nature of all trades (we knew that already, but it's still interesting to look back on)

All these rumors of them moving is probably just crap or the asking price of other GMs. If Homer wasn't going to part then when Weber was on the table then he isn't moving them. He even came out and said he is not moving them. We can say Homer lies but in this case the proof is in the pudding.

Well when Mckenzie says they could be moved, it was probably true that we would have moved them for the right deal. But now we got Streit for no assets, so its a win win and they will both be staying.
