We're going too!

We got tickets on stubhub sec 306 for 30 dollars each.

Hello,

Myself and some friends will be in Cheektowaga this Thursday and staying at the Best Western Plus on Dingens st. We're in town for a wedding so only have this night to kill. Looking for a good place to eat and watch some of the nights hockey games. Any reccomindations? Any food place will probably do, can't see them not having beer as you guys are awesome like that. If its non-smoking its even better. Thanks in advance.

Has anyone taken an active 3 year old boy to see a hockey game?
How did it go? Was he entertained? Any advice?

I'm going to go to my parents house with my son in July and I'm thinking of a mini-vacation in Buffalo to go to the D-camp scrimmage (for me) and Niagara Falls (for him). Any other place worth visiting with a toddler?

My parents live on the outskirts of western NY so we will get a hotel for a night or two.
Any advice on one that is close to the arena? Nice and economical is good, but also willing to spoil us if need be since it will just be the two of us on this trip.

With a 3 year old, you won't be seeing the whole game. Plan to be running around the arena for at least one period if not more. Ply him with food to get more game watching time.

Take him to the Buffalo Zoo, it's great for toddlers. As for hotels, I always stay at the Comfort Suites on Main st. which is cheap if not the nicest place in the world. I imagine the Embassy Suites near there would be a good choice if you'd like to be spoiled.

I took my son to last year's scrimmage when he wasn't even 2 yet. He was entertaining for maybe 1 1/2 periods before he got really fidgety. I think it was worth it to give him his first exposure of hockey without having to throw away money on tickets.

Thanks. Yeah, the tickets are a minor cost for me here coming from out of town. I'm trying to decide if I am throwing my money away.

Well Sabres season ticket holders are supposed to be offered free tickets to the event. I'm sure there will be some STHers on here who won't be able to attend because of work (scrimmage starts at 4:00 pm ET!) so perhaps one of them will ask for the tickets and they can send them to you. So if you have to leave the scrimmage early because of your child, you won't feel bad throwing money away since the tickets were free.

If they are out of towners I'd take them to Niagara Falls.

So then ft Erie is out.......

Take her to lake Erie ( dunkirk, angola) or along niagara river or beaver state park on grand island.

There is also the Art gallery which is actually one of the better ones in the country...near there you have Delaware park and Allentown area. Buffalo is known for some of the historic architecture. Architure junkies come to buffalo to see some of the work.

Near niagara falls there is niagara on the lake, ft miagara, and a few state parks.

Yep. Lots of green space to explore. I'm a big fan of the trails at Devil's Hole and the Whirlpool.

Letchworth is always a great outing if you're willing to drive a bit.

OT - Buffalo restaurants

A friend of mine is going to be in Buffalo for a few days in November and he asked me about restaurants. I haven't been up there in a while so I figured I'd ask here. He'll be looking for a say...3 or 4 star type of place to eat, but nothing that requires a suit and tie. Any ideas in the range of Italian, steakhouse, or general that I should forward to him? I have some ideas but I'm not sure how dated they might be (I haven't eaten out in Buffalo in 15 years). Thanks.

Right out my back door, literally. Love those trails and run them 3-4x week. Agreed on Letchworth as well. Fantastic places to hike and enjoy the scenery/outdoors.

Hello,

I'll be in buffalo this weekend for the Bills opener, anybody know a real cool restaurant for Saturday night. I'm looking for quality food, don't mind if it's higher end too! I just don't want something quiet, I want action and i don't mind if it's a little loud too.

Fellow posters of the Buffalo. Canadian boy here whose going to be visiting for a weekend in November. Fri/15 vs Leafs and the Bills on the Sunday. We have a hotel booked for the Friday near the rink, but Saturday we want to be closer to the football stadium. So just a few things I'm gonna ask for some insight.

1. A good hotel to stay at for Saturday night that's close to the Ralph?

2. Things to do all day Saturday in Buffalo?

3. A good spot to watch the Sabres/Leafs on TV Sat night, a place that would also have UFC would be awesome aswell.

4. Recommended places for grub Friday before game.

Appreciate any responses.

Yeah sitting at the sides of the 300 level is great at the FNC. I've only done it twice, but I've liked it just as much as the 100 level.

Can't beat the price too.

Well, I don't know of any local places...but I have seen Buffalo Wild Wings (a chicken wing chain) show UFC matches.

Pretty much any bar with a satelite feed may be able to accommodate you.

This Buffalo Wild Wing regularly has UFC pay per view events, I'm not sure if there is one the weekend you will be here.

Visiting Buffalo in a couple weeks from Winnipeg for the Pearl Jam concert and then the Bills game. If anyone has a decent pair of seats for the concert please message me.
