I wouldn't say he went AWOL. If he were away, that would have been better. No, I'd say he went full Private Pyle in the crease.

Holmgren will use his get out of jail free cards and then have to watch the bad contracts - wait......... too late he signs Streit to a ludicrous contract. The Flyers have no chance with him pulling the strings. Paul is good around the water cooler but he is a pitiful GM.

Streit got market value, even if we all wish it was only a three year deal. Calling his contract ludicrous just shows you're out of touch with what point scoring defensmen get paid. See the contracts of Wideman, Paul Martin, Wisniewski, Carle, Gonchar, etc.

What makes it ludicrous is the length for a 36 year old declining d man. I have always liked Streit but there will be little value in this deal - crazy.

Wideman is 30, Martin is 32, Wisniewski is 29, Carle is 28, Gonchar got a two year contract. Do you really think those contracts are the same as signing a 35 year old to a 4 year deal?

Goodbye puck ducker.
Maybe the Flyers should go after someone like Ryan Miller, heard he wants out of Buffalo.
Lets hope the Flyers stay away from Luongo. Dumping Briere and Bryz frees up 12mil in cap space, I guess Briere wouldn't accept a trade.

You want them to go after miller but stay away from Luongo? Huh?

Luongo > Miller at this point. Not to mention that he's a delusional, immature child.

Miller's contract is up and Luongo is signed to 2022? What would you sign first? Miller had a rant because Buffalo's D sucks, Luongo chokes in the playoffs. I didn't say to sign Miller 100% just have a look, he is a good goalie. Bernier would be my first choice.

I wish the Flyers currently had a goalie who could choke his way to Game 7 of the SCF.

I haven't seen anyone seriously propose to trade for Luongo; most of the Luongo speculation is on the basis that he is also bought out.

Flyers should defnitely show interest in Luongo only if he's bought out

And Luongo chokes in the playoffs? riiiight, it has nothing to do with the fact that his team in from of him is soft as butter. Lu did what he could to keep his team in games, but it's not his fault other teams ***** slap his teammates all over the ice

We should have no interest in Luongo's contract...but if he's bought out it's a no brainer to be all over that.

well there is this and the fact that i doubt any goalie was going to play at the level Thomas did that year. Sure he did not play well in the Cup Final but I dont think anyone was beating Boston that year with Thomas putting up those insane numbers.

Soft as butter? LOL are you really going to compare Luongo's 2011 cup team in front of him to any of Miller's teams? Not even a question.

Rich Winter, Ilya Bryzgalov's agent has been informed by Paul Holmgren that Bryzgalov will NOT be bought out after Cup Final!

Looks like hes staying somehow

Happy.

And I'm sure as **** this contract will be gone after next offseason. Homerlike timing though - don't buy out your goalie when there might be a chance to get people like Luongo, Miller or Bernier.

I would say with Bryz coming back that means the Bernier talks fell through.

Maybe a ploy to drive Bernier asking price down ? You have to think zero chance Bryz is still a Flyer, the negative reports about him have to affect him and the team

This has to be a last ditch effort to get Lombardi to come off his ridiculous asking price. Float a rumor that he's not getting bought out to see if they come back with lesser demands.

I typed Bernier because I was thinking about him - but meant to type Halak (if the rumors about him and Hitch were true, he'd be available). You're right, especially if Voynov was part of the deal, it must have fallen through.
