There will be a crap load of Flyers rumors for the next two weeks simply because the Flyers are one of the few teams willing to make big moves anymore.

Detroit can't bring 3 players back according to tsn

"Holland acknowledged he won't be able to keep all of the team's key players from last season, including free agents Daniel Cleary, Damien Brunner and Valtteri Filppula."

So think we target one of these?

If we move Read for Bernier I could see it. Probably would be one of Cleary or Brunner, I think Filppula is supposed to get a lot of money, no?

I think he would demand more for sure.

I like cleary, being a fellow Newfoundlander, but also what he brings in terms of leadership and work ethic. Brunner would be interesting. He was fun to watch, not sure how his 200' game is

Brunner, yes please. Another Swiss player! I'd think the Flyers wouldn't be offering top playing time or top dollar for him, though. He'd be a quality winger though.

Why?

I have only seen him in limited games.

Also, tsn has article on "is there a future if letang in pit"

I'd love him here... But I know that'll never happen.

^ It could. Letang is friends with a few Flyers, and has stated that even given the bad relationship between the teams that he thinks the Flyers are good guys. After all, Max Talbot came here. Money talks...

Brunner looked great for his first season in the NHL, including a solid playoffs. He's got a good shot and good vision too. H could probably be signed for relatively cheap compared to other top UFA forwards.

It certainly does. Amid the Ryan rumors starting up again and Bryz may not be bought out I'm not sure what the F Homer does.

If it's between Ryan and Letang - what the heck do you do.

I know what I do. Letang. Having said that Ryan would be a killer on the wing here....

Maybe we ship Mez out and buy out Bryz and then make a play for both. I would def have a wet dream about that. ahhhh puberty!

(these totals are compiled with the bonus cushion)
SALARY CAP: $64,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $61,409,167; BONUSES: $2,800,000
CAP SPACE (22-man roster): $5,690,833
Obviously you can take out Raffl and put a rookie or some random other guy in there. Just some signings that wouldnt be bad. Also salaries are guesses. Left enough capspace just incase kind of thing.

Overall wouldnt be a bad lineup I dont think.

For Ryan I could honestly see the deal being Coburn, Read, 2013 second for Ryan. And then we would sign a guy like Scuderi, Ian White, Douglass Murray etc... or trading our first this year for a guy like jake Gardiner. Not that I am for this, just I can see it happening.

Ryan won't come cheap, otherwise you'd think we would have him already. Think 1st+quality player (Anaheim wants defense)+ ...

It would be a tough offseason after next season if we acquired Ryan. We would likely have Giroux, Ryan, Voracek, Simmonds, Hartnell, Schenn, and Couts all likely making 3 million or more against the cap. As well as having Streit. Unless the cap goes up at least a couple million, which could make it work but it would still be hard to fit them all under the cap

We can wait two years for Ryan to be UFA. Don't need him now.

No way you get Ryan w/o Coots or the #11 pick in the deal.

Coots/#11, Read/Coburn and 2014 1st for Ryan and Sbisa/Winnik

@b_ryan9 it's you're favorite time of year! All the rumors of u coming to Philly starts now!

@MohlerRay haha, again? I won't be getting caught up in anything this year. Time to shut the phone off

The first tweet is a Flyer fan tweeting Bobby Ryan. The second one is him responding.

I'm definitely not for trading Couts at all. And I we need to keep our pick this year if we have another option for a top 4 defender then I would go read, coburn and 2014 first. Otherwise forget about it. His value is going down every year because he is losing years on his contract. The optimum trade for us would be something like read, 2013 2nd, and 2014 first

I would much rather have Ryan than Letang. Every time I seen Letang on the ice for Pittsburgh he was either turning it off or getting caught in the offensive zone letting up a 2 on 1 the other way. Plus after he fought Kimmo there is no way I want him on this Flyer time.

If we could get Ryan and keep the defense we have including streit and then have a coach who plays a balanced system we could be very effective. The forechecking could be amazing with 4 or 5 big bodies Wingers with Ryan, Voracek, Simmonds, hartnell, schenn, and maybe mcGinn.

Read + Coburn + 11th

for

Ryan + Sbisa
