Cammarata? Only 5'7 but lit up the USHL and is headed to Minnesota. Reminds me of Gaudreau a little.

He also is probably a reach at 41, would like to get him in the 3rd if he's available.

If Madison Bowey slips to 41 that's going to be a pretty solid pick IMO.

Yep, especially when you consider the number of good defensemen that have come out of the Kelowna program (Scott Hannan, Duncan Keith, Shea Weber, Alex Edler, and Luke Schenn are recent examples).

EDIT: Also forgot about Josh Gorges and Tyler Myers as well. Too bad Kyle Cumiskey is injury prone because he would have been another one to add to the list.

From a pure offensive skill set standpoint Cammarata would be towards the top of the draft but he's too small to go in the top three rounds. I wouldn't be looking at him until the 4th round and on.

In addendum, if you feel inclined, let us at least acquire a young one, like Forbert from LA with Bernier

maybe just because they are both Italian but I think Santini will = Girardi.

Big, physical that will be competent enough to move the puck

From the bits I've seen of Jacob De La Rose, I'd target him at 41. He can absolutely fly, plays physically, and is known for his two-way game. He's probably a 3rd line winger, but his risk level appears to be extremely low and the thought of him and Laughton together excites me.

There's no way in hell the Avs don't take Jones if they keep the pick.

If the Avalanche keeps the top pick in the June 30 NHL draft, it won't take the formerly presumptive candidate, defenseman Seth Jones.

After a week of internal meetings, Avalanche brass came to a conclusion: Jones won't be their pick. Instead, it could be any one of three forwards: Nathan MacKinnon, Jonathan Drouin or Alexander Barkov.

"If we do pick first, we're leaning more toward one of those three forwards," Avalanche executive vice president of hockey operations Joe Sakic told The Denver Post.

I honestly don't know what to think about that? Are they bluffing to get Florida to swap picks and add some other picks then take Jones at #2?

Man. I wish the Flyers could get into the top 4 to pick Jones. He's the perfect fit for what the Flyers need. I would stack picks and prospects to move up.

Avs need to trade for Letang and then trade down to pick up mackinnon, drouin, or barkov

Letang would be a good partner for EJ

I would love Jones, but the Flyers will just rush his development and the fans will turn on him when he doesn't develop into a #1 defender within 2 years.

I don't think that will happen if they draft a defender at #11. The Flyers have plenty of experienced defensemen for at least the 13-14 season.

When's the last time a defenseman just came into the league and took it by storm? It rarely happens at that position. Last one was Myers but look at him now. You'd have to go back to players like Brian Leetch, Nick Lidstrom, and, Ray Bourque. It just doesn't happen often.

Ugh, I shudder to think of what the Pens would get for Letang though. I'd rather just see him walk as a UFA or get signed by Pitt to an outrageous contract.

Any GM quotes I read this time of year I just chalk up to posturing. There's no reason whatsoever to state officially whom a team will or won't draft.

???

Some of those players were quite good, but others were only solid contributors. I don't know that I would classify any of them as taking "taking the league by storm".

Crosby scored 102 as a rookie. That's taking a league by storm.

Pietrangelo and an 8 game cup of tea, then a 9 game cup of team where he scored a combined 3 points, then put up 43 in his first full season with a Corsi Rel QoC of .673 (third amongst St. Louis defensemen) . Quite good... not storming.

Subban had 38 points and Corsi Rel QoC that put him right behind James Wizniewski on MTL (7th amongst MTL defensemen).

Weber put up 38 as a rookie with a negative Corsi Rel QoC.

Doughty scored 27 points with the best Corsi Rel QoC (.955) on the Kings.

Voynov only scored 20 points with a negative Corsi Rel QoC.

You must have a substantially lower threshold for taking the league by storm. All of these players are phenomenal, but only Doughty would have qualified as a no doubt top pairing defensemen as a rookie. The others were all solid 3/4 types that moved up to that top line profile rather quickly.

Subban no. Pietrangelo had a couple years of development before he made the jump. He really didn't take the league by storm. Weber in his first year was average. Made big strides his second year. None of those players but came in and solidified themselves as #1 dman like the ones I listed. Then again all those players I picked are HOF dman.
