With salary retention (at least around 2.5 million) rights to Val Filppulla+?

He'd look good on the Senators. They could really use another top-6 winger.

Cammalleri - Spezza - Michalek
Conacher - Turris - Silfverberg
Latendresse - Zibanejad - Neil/Condra
Greening - Smith - Condra/Neil

Not a bad forward group.

Cam Larry is a floater now a days but I guess at only 1 year a team with cap space can eat it up. Calgary won't retain salary.. Why would they? Someone will take him.

Not a chance.

Filppula's rights, if Detroit doesn't want to sign him would be worth around a 4th round pick.

The Flames can offer him a huge contract in FA if they want him.

If Detroit adds a good piece, then that might change.

Cammi for Grabo + 2nd could work for both sides.

Toronto gets replacement in the lineup for Grabo and gets out of a longer term commitment to a player who isn't needed.

Calgary gets a decent pick and a stop gap player with 4 years left on his contract that will fit with the rebuild timeline. Calgary will have to overpay to attract any free agents because how of how poor of a team they will be in the next few years making the Grabo contract not a bad contract for them.

For a rental though? I mean...I want Cam, but if the cost for one year is one of our top prospects, I just don't think we can do it.

Fills an immediate need for both clubs and I have to imagine Cammy would be happy to go home. Unless someone could beat that, id be pretty happy with it.

Rangers couldn't afford him at 6 million but at 3m they would have to kick tires. I'd think the offer would be based around Christian Thomas a speedy winger and son of Steve Thomas.

Not sure if that'd work or be workable from Calgary but I think he'd be a good fit with Brassard or Stepan.

If Kiprusoff retires, the Flames will be at ~$34M with 16 players without Cammalleri's cap hit. The only RFAs of note are relatively low-cost guys (Brodie, Backlund, etc).

What's the salary floor supposed to be at next year, and are the Flames in any real danger of not hitting it without Cammy? Either way, my guess is Calgary would have little problem retaining significant salary/cap hit on the guy.

Lol nope. We need that pick.

I was talking about straight up

Letang is a great player but we can't afford that at all.

I highly doubt that the Flames retain salary. If they weren't willing to take some of Boumeester's salary and they aren't buying out any players this summer, then I doubt they would retain some of Cammy's salary.

I agree Filppula's rights would be worth a 4th, was trying to gauge what the flames would want added to to balance.

Feaster has already hinted at taking on other teams bad contracts in exchange for assets.

I think thats his plan to hit the cap floor. I expect to see Ballard here next year, as well as some other would-be buyout candidates.

I will say, Cammi would be a nice replacement for MacArthur, should the Leafs not re-sign him.

The Grabo + 2nd for Cammalleri (no salary retention) would be interesting for Leaf fans.

Eww. I can see the Flames eating some of Cammy's cap hit because it's only for a year. But I would not want any part of Grabovski.

Noted. Slide Greening up to 3rd line and bring up a 4th line LW.

I doubt it. I think we can expect the Flames to be pretty active in FA this year since we have so many holes to fill, and since the team doesn't expect to be a contender for at least a few years, we can afford to overpay some guys to come play here. We'll hit the floor no problem.
