Sorry we are already bad enough defensively, no need to get worse.

it's a little too early to be drinking. Think again.

What if we add one of our late round picks to Cammy?
Lets say Cammy (salary retained) +22nd overall and we are looking for good young players that could be put in our lineup. Who could be had at that price?

No need to retain any salary in an Ottawa deal I would imagine.

Definitely to the Pens if Cal eats some of his salary. Possible package with Letang include? Especially with the loss of Bouwmeester he could definitely help on the back end.

Letang for Cammalleri straight up would a poor deal for us.

Would never do that.

Bouwmeester was good defensively. Letang is a trainwreck defensively. That is not the kind of replacement we want.

Could he really though?

In all seriousness, I would love Letang in Calgary, but I just don't think the Flames could give up what the Pens would want. The price would be too steep.

I personally wouldn't trade for him from a Leafs POV. He'd play 2nd line wing but he's undersized and we already have solid top 6 wingers. What we need is center men

To Ottawa:

Cammalleri
Mark Giordano
2nd round pick

To Calgary:

1st round pick in 2013
Cody Ceci

Calgary gets assets to rebuild and Ottawa gets a top 6 forward that will help take the pressure off the young ones and help Jason Spezza and they also get a top 4 D-man that can step in and take some of the pressure off Karlson.

I'm not so sure. Shero is already showing incompetence by keeping your coach and goaltender.

I loved Cammy with the Habs, but that ship has sailed.....I hope we don't touch this.

FYI Cammy can play center. He entered the league as a natural C for the Kings (I believe) and he has since moved to wing but he did play the middle for the Flames at times over the last few years.

I doubt I would even trade you just Giordano for that. Awful.

1. No 2nd rounder
2. Giordano will be the next captain
3. Not a chance even without 1 & 2.

My thoughts exactly. Hitting the floor won't be a problem for them.

I also would expect them to take a few chances on reclamation project cap dump players who are at a low value point in their careers like Ballard, Booth, Grabovski.

I wouldn't mind having him back in Montreal for another year

As I said earlier Feaster has alluded to this. If we can add a couple picks/prospects in the process of trading for those players then it will be worth it.

He might have made mistakes with those two decisions but he's not stupid enough to just trade Letang away in a straight up.

Hard to add, because I am not sure what you are after. Giordano looks like the next captain so its going to take overpayment to get him out of Calgary. I just don't see it happening.

I would do Cammy + 3rd for Ott 1st though, to simplify things.

Like I said add, this is just the idea and Giordano is 29 years old and will be 30 when the season starts. Is Giordano going to want to spent 3-4 years on a rebuilding team. In 3-4 years Giordano is going to be in the same ship as Iginla was this year.

Feaster said they would have no buyouts this year, and we traded a 2nd round pick just to get rid of Kotalik not 2 years ago, so i dont see ownership really wanting to eat 3M bucks.

Chances are we get a decent prospect or a 2nd rounder back.
