He is overpaid, we agree on that for sure. But that becomes less of an issue with his contract expiring at seasons end. Playoff performances count. Just look at the deals handed out to Ward, Pisani, Bergenheim and soon to be Bickell. Not always a sound investment, but Cammaleri is a proven scorer unlike those players. I've never said he is playing on the 1st line for a contender, but he would play top 6.

As to pay, look at what the Rangers got for Gaborik. He's older, less productive, made of glass and paid substantially more than Cammaleri. He also has only scored 14 points and 6 goals in his last 31 playoff games. He's worse defensively and even softer than Cammaleri. Asking for a 2nd and a prospect or a late 1st is certainly not unreasonable:

Gaborik

For

John Moore (top 4 defensive prospect, former 1st round pick)
Brassard (Solid young 2nd line center)
Dorsett (Useful bottom 6 gritty PKer)
6th round pick

Cammaleri

For

2nd round pick
Mark Stone (Former 6th round pick)

Which deal would you rather make? Scoring doesn't come cheap unless the player is well past their prime. I think the answer is pretty obvious.

Cammalleri will never win a cup. He doesn't care about winning.

LA fan or MTL? Last I checked he's played his best hockey in the playoffs and carried a lousy team to a conference final.

Would Buffalo be interested? His play has dropped off quite a bit and I've heard rumours that he's available, not sure if that's still accurate.
Even if he didn't have an amazing season this year, he still has much more value than Cammy IMO

Solid offer. I would take it if its the best offer we get. Demers looks like a solid piece and maybe Havlat could turn it around here.

Yup, much more. He'd need to flop another year or two before his value declined that much.

I've always liked Havlat, but jeez his injury history is awful. He makes Hemsky look durable. Demers is a nice player too.

I'd pass on the Stas, but my views on the overrated nature of Paul Stastny are well documented and infracted...

Gaborik is just a few months older.
Less productive? - he has 336 goals to Cammalleri's 210. In the last four regular seasons, Cammalleri has scored 78 goals, Gaborik 117.
Made of glass? What is one reason why Cammalleri has only averaged 19.5 goals scored in the last four seasons? I think the answer is pretty obvious.

People really need to stop asking for Wotherspoon, he's like the Flames' only legit D prospect. With their horrible depth on the back end, there's no way they are moving him unless if it's for some sort of crazy can't miss kind of deal.

Do your math again bud. Not to mention you conviently skipped by one year his 39 goal season.

2013=13 in 44 games(24 goals pro-rated)
2012=20 in 66 games (25 goals pro-rated)
2011= 19 in 67 games (23 goals pro-rated)
2010=26 in 65 games (33 goals pro-rated

So with pro-rating for only this shortened season he's averaged 23 goals, all pro-rated and he's averaged 26. Throw in one more season and it goes up to 26 goals and then 29 a season pro-rated.

Not sure if that'd work or be workable from Calgary but I think he'd be a good fit with Brassard or Stepan.
I'd be willing to offer Thomas and one of McColgan or St. Croix.

6 million is a bit tough with the cap, but I'd rather have Cammalleri than Clowe at 4-5 mill. At least I know I'll get a sniper.

Haven't seen you around much, by the way.

Also remember you have to score goals to win too? 13 goals in 19 games ring a bell? Weren't a significant amount of them game winners too?
