Where is Brad Boyes playing these days? I sure wouldn't mind trading Nino for that guy.

Actually, I'm Garth Snow. I never told the guys on the board that, because I was afraid they'd make fun of me. But, it's true.

Stempiak - Taveres - Boyes. Elite center flanked by elite wingers.

Bring on the cup!

The press says Snow got calls from 5 teams, about trading for Nino this season.

Boyes is leaving this summer as a ufa. Moulson will be looking for a big contract next summer, after having taken two team friendly contracts. I'm not at all confident Moulson is a NYI beyond 2013-2014. Streit, PAP and Boyes all lobbied for extensions and priced themselves off LI.

Unless the ufa age has dropped to 20, I expect Nino will be one of the hardest working players in NYI training camp in Sept, trying to avoid riding the buses in the AHL again. Trying to make $900,000+ $1.7m in bonuses, instead of $67,000 in the AHL.

Is him skipping prospect camp any bigger deal that Jones, Mackinnon, or Drouin skipping the combine? NO players are tired and need a break after playing all year.

Vis, Nabby, Nino, Hodgson... one of these players had a gm who cares what he demands. The only three had a gm who ignores a player with no leverage, making demands.

I would be surprised if Nino got traded.

1. Because Snow likes to hoard draft picks and prospects
2. Because Snow is a stubborn SOB when players try to play hardball

Nino will be dealt if and when it makes sense for the team. Yes, I am sure nino's attitude has caused some concern for the isles. But not enough to dump him for an overpaid vet or soon to be UFA. If he could get back a young top-4 dman snow would probably pull the trigger. Otherwise, he will hold onto nino.

OK, if you guys insist that my DiPietro trade/buyout isn't happening, how's this:

To NY Islanders:

Raphael Diaz + 2013 #55 pick (debatable...higher/lower, let me know)

To Montreal:

Nino Niederreiter

Isles get a puck-moving top 4 Dman, Habs get a fiery winger who could add a little swagger to an already young team...and like I said, I'd love to see:

Galchenyuk - Eller - Niederreiter

or

Niederreiter - Galchenyuk - Gallagher

As a Habs fan, I'm aroused just typing those lines...

You must not live in Montreal, if it takes so little to get you aroused.

I realize habs fans think highly of Diaz, but the isles really don't need another 5'11-6'0 d-man with McDonald, Hickey, Vis, Donovan, De Haan and Ness all in the mix this Sept. All either having a NYI roster spot or pushing for the 1 remaining spot.

Diaz holds zero appeal.

Flames
Nino
2014 1st

Isles
2013 28th Overall
Cammy
Tanguay

I think highly of Nino still. Tanguay is a great playmaker - as long as you pair him with a center/RW that is a sniper (Cammy plays all 3 forward positions in a pinch).

Gives the Isles an upgrade on the wings with more offence, and a first-round draft pick.

Calgary gets what I think is a solid blue-chipper. Can he play RW? I see him listed as a LW.

I think Nino has loads of value, regardless of what his results were in his first NHL season.

If Isles don't make the playoffs, flip Cammy to a contender to recoup a 1st. 1st picks cancel out (or close to), Tanguay is probably worth a bit more than a 2nd, and the value is a better shot at having a deeper run into the playoffs? I had a 2014 2nd coming back to Calgary rather than a first, but seems a little light for the return. Basis for a trade anyways, though I find it tough to really gauge the value of Nino and Tanguay at this point.

No way will Stemp + Rights to Butler even a remote possibility. I like Stempniak, but his value is nowhere near a blue-chip prospect, and the rights to Butler would not exactly be of much consideration.

Definitely some low-ball offers here. I would prefer to keep Ferland as well - unique prospect in Calgary's system that is looking a bit more like a longshot after the past season, but someone who if he works out will address several areas of need in the organization, and whose value to other teams is probably negligible at this point.

No idea if this is too much, or too little.

Seems Cammy's worth at this point from the other thread is 'around' a late 1st round pick. Tanguay is maybe a 2nd + B prospect, or 2nd and a 3rd (or 4th?) in the right situation. Deeper draft this year than next, so added value there. Close? Starting point?

While I don't think it's a big deal, I don't see it as at all similar. From the perspective of players, the combine is there to improve your draft stock. If you're unable to go through the drills at a high level due to fatigue then there's no reason to expose yourself to the risk of hurting your stock.

Dev camp is completely different. Its purpose is for an organization to touch base with its young players and nudge their summer development along. If he isn't obligated to go then it's not a major issue, but considering the at least mildly sour relationship that seems to exist between Nino and the organization, it must be at least a little bit disconcerting.

Nino will come in and end up beating out Moulson on the top line. And score 30 goals on JT91's wing. Write that down

Not a big deal. Niño is using the small amount of leverage he has to tell Snow he's not happy he wasn't invited to training camp. Did a year in the AHL, had a productive season, attended his mandatory 3 prospect camps. We shall see in big boy camp if this was smart on his part. What we know for sure is Garth will not be selling for pennies on the dollar.
