Fraser just had his second child as well, he will be pretty motivated to stay out of the AHL.
I hope you are right. I think that is one of a few areas that separate the Kings from these two teams in the final. There needs to be someone ready to step in and bring some kind of life to those lines. I still wish with as pathetic as Clifford, King and Fraser were that they would have given a black ace a shot, there is no way they could have been any worse than those 3 were this year. I thought Richardson was the only one worth a damn and he is probably gone.

I wouldn't lump Clifford in there. Clifford in 48 games tied his career highs, and was plus player for the first time in his career.

Nolan and Fraser were about as bad as they could be.

Clifford got off to a fast start and fell off the cliff.

He has the potential to be more, maybe not a Lucic like I thought when he first came in the league, but he should be better by now, the problem with Clifford is always going to be bad penalties and poor decisions. But even so, there is no reason he should look as awful as he did in the playoffs. He should be providing energy and chipping in a goal here and there, the only thing he contributed was bad penalties.

Clifford was on his way to his highest point totals in a regular season this year (7g/7a) and while it isn't much I don't think it would have been a stretch to have seen him put up 25 points if we would have had an 82 game season.

That said he hasn't become as productive offensively as I thought he would either. He is an example of what can happen when you rush a kid. He is growing into his NHL game and at 22 he still can become a very very good bottom 6er but he needs to take another step forward this coming season.

Ha had 8 PM Carter had 14.

Consistency is going to be his problem for a while, he is young.

Lucic is really lofty expectation for Clifford, Lucic is quite the player.

People need to taper those expectations a bit.

I don't see why Clifford can't turn into another Bickell. I think people are forgetting he's still only 22, broke in to the NHL as a 20 year old and never stepped foot in the AHL (least not for a full season, had a cup of coffee in the playoffs at 19 after his Barrie Colts were done).

Bickell is 27 now, though he did break out as a 24 year old with 17 goals, but he's averaged 3rd line minutes most of his career, whereas Clifford has mainly been a 4th liner who has rotated in and out of other lines whenever the Kings shuffled lines around due to players not contributing or due to injuries.

Give Clifford some time, he'll round out to a damn good 3rd line option on LW. He's shown glimpses of what he's capable of, he just needs to find consistency in getting to the net, creating havoc, and getting his shot of, like he does in these goals that he's scored.

What's great about your post is that it is made during the Stanley Cup Finals, and not two-thirds into the season...as in, the bad old days.

We have a great Cup contender now and we would be there if it weren't for all the injuries.

I just wanted the Finals to be over as soon as possible so we can get started on the trades and such. Now this stupid series is probably going seven. Sigh, so annoying.

I too want it to end but as soon as hockey season is over I know I'm gonna miss it. Might as well make it seven. It's still fun to watch for me.

This is where the Kings missed Terry Murray.

We should have kept him on as a scout

At least it gets even easier to dislike the Sharks.
