So in the mock draft on the Jets board, I took...

20. Andre Burakovsky - LW
49. Pavel Buchnevich - LW
50. Jason Dickinson - C

Still have pick 58 coming up. What does everybody think? Too much risk?

Personally - I like it a lot! 2 of my favorite players in the draft in Burakovsky & Dickinson and Buchnevich (who sadly the Sharks aren't likely to pick) has very good upside.

Agree with Stalock, I love it, although I doubt we take Buchnevich despite how impressed I was by him at the U18's. Who's still on the board?

It would be really hard to pass up Lehkonen if he's available at 58 but I believe the Sharks need to take a d-man w/ one of those 2nd round picks so I'd probably take Butcher or Vannelli at 58.

Who ever is drafting for Montreal could probably Hack the Gibson. Gauthier, Petan, and Klimchuk? I also really like Calgary's picks.

And not to take away from what you did Drumzan, great first round pick for what was available. Best forward on the board. Good pick. 2nd rounders are a bit risky, but could be great picks.

edit:
Since you like the Europeans, why not go with... BOGDAN YAKIMOV? He's probably a reach (though I kind of think Buchnevich was too) because of the Russian factor, but this guy plays like he's from Alberta, loved watching this guy. Love the size and physicality he brings--he's got moderate offensive potential too. I think he has realistic third line potential with a bit of upside--but that's sometimes scary with Russian players too. I don't know too much about his personality. He'll probably get drafted in the 4th or 5th but he's more of a late 2nd rounder to me.

If the draft were to play out like that first round 1-19 I definitely would have picked Burakovsky there too. Would be very happy. And Buchnevich there in the second is a steal! Good job.

I don't think Dickinson at 50 is a risk at all and I'd actually be a bit surprised if he's still around for the Sharks to take. I think the only reason Buchcnevich is considered a "risk" is because he's Russian & playing in the KHL (and I haven't been able to find anything on whether or not he has interest in moving to NA), otherwise, considering his talent and upside, I think he'd likely be a 1st round pick.

Considering who's left on the board (for this mock draft) I think Yakimov would be a huge reach at 58 as I agree that he's likely more a 4th round pick.

Depends on the guy, but I watch a lot of international hockey. Subway series, Ivan Hlinka, WJC, WC, U18 + all the camps for those, and the odd CHL game during the year + the Memorial Cup. You can easily find KHL games online, so I've seen a lot of Nichushkin. During the lockout you could often find links to Barkov or Lindholm's games.

Example: I recently found on youtube and re-watched the Gold Metal game from the U18's this spring (Canada v. US, Link) and the Bronze Metal game (Russia v. Finland, Link), which have a ton of draft eligibles on them.

For the US, you have Compher, McCarron, Hayden, Fasching, Santini, Vanelli, Butcher, Thompson, etc. Canada you have Morrissey, Klimchuk, Baptiste, Bowey, Theodore, Heatherington, Morin, Bigras, Dauphin, Gauthier, and Nastasiuk. For Russia you have Buchnevich and I think Nichushkin plays that game, and for Finland I think Lehkonen plays.

For the guys who played key roles at the WJC, they're a good watch (Jones, Drouin, Nichushkin, Lindholm, Barkov, Lehkonen, Hagg, Hartman, Wennberg, etc).

Of course, people located in Canada seem to have better accessibility to CHL games, and then Stalock is in her own class of awesome.

PK says his brother (Jordan) has more potential than him. Considering the bloodlines alone, I'd take him in the 2nd round.

the way the article reads hes a puck mover/setup guy. do you think someone takes a risk on him earlier due to his name?

If a team takes a risk on him (early 2nd) it likely won't be because of his name...his offensive game/upside might be enough for a team with a deep prospect pool that has the time to let him develop.
