I just want to clarify the INACCURATE statement made by CBC last night..

BRAD MARCHAND IS NOT THE FAVORITE SON OF HALIFAX.

In fact, almost the entire city (only Bruins fans like him and most of them don't like him) hate Brad Marchand. The notion that they would do a segment on him and try to perpetrate that egregious lie is an insult to the game of hockey and journalism.

His antics when traded to the Mooseheads, his general ego and demeanor, his behaviour in the bars (google Marchand and Halifax Casino) all attribute to the hatred that is fervent for Marchand around here.

CBC stop trying to give Halifax a bad name.

This, the whole street where his father lives hates him (brad not his father).

I don't think the whole family is too well liked either. They all have similar dispositions and perceived social value as Brad.

I've heard the same thing from many easterners. He's hardly liked by his own family...

I'm tweeting at CBC later the Q104 (local radio station) facebook post asking why everyone in Halifax hates the Bruins.. 98% of the answers were because of Marchand.

So does Bouillon but he's not the team's 2nd highest paid skater or help him in clearing the crease/creating space. Way better options out there that can provide much more with 18-20 min/game than Gionta's ~40 point production.

If rumors are true then there appears to be a large gap between Tyler Bozak and the Maple Leafs in contract talks.
It is believed that Bozak is seeking $5.5 million per season, while Toronto is hoping to give him $3.5 million a year. If the Leafs fail to re-sign Bozak and he hits unrestricted free agency then they may target Stephen Weiss of the Florida Panthers as a replacement.

The only problem is those "better options" cost a fortune to bring in, so why keep bringing it up?

He has one year left on his deal.

I would take Bozak on my team.

I would not, however, pay him anything close to the figure he's looking for. He couldn't even get that much on the open market, no matter how thin the UFA crop this year is.

I have a good buddy who went to High School with Brad.
He says the guys a real jerk, like movie style jock.
He deserves no praise or admiration from anyone.

I sound like a hater but this guy is that guy that everyone knows and everyone hates.

all this talk about marchant, yet, he's crowned the hero; and subban, who you will never hear anybody say anything bad about him off the ice and is by all accounts, a model ****ing citizen, is cast as the villain.

Very well said...the kid has had way too much success early in his life, and has no class at all....imagine if one of the Habs acted like this off the ice???

If he hits the open market he'll get good money, center is weak this UFA period. Him Ribiero, Roy and Weiss are about the only two top 6 calibre centers. Elias is more a LW.

I expect those guys to all get 4.5-6 mil/year average.

Agreed whole-heartedly; Marchand is at least twice the real punk than Subban is alleged to be. I honestly only have one conclusion about why Subban has so many detractors and it disgusts me too much to voice it.

It would be nice not to see Marchand on the Bruins to see how he would compose himself on the ice. Bet he wouldn't be as though

The house coat and urinating situation are totally legit, yeah. I don't know about the whole broken jaw portion, I think that was exaggerated or fabricated.

lol hilarious...

But i'm not surprised, he just looks like the type...just a real jerk lol

That's another example of how NHL players get away with a ton of mischief outside the rink.

Anytime people discuss NHL players having squeaky clean images I always think to myself if only half of the stuff they do was actually made public

I have a friend who went to high school with Marchand, she has told me many times that he was an ******* back then and people hate him in Nova Scotia.

She also told me that his antics indeed at the bars is terrible, he has tried to jump the line and bouncers have had to calm him down because he thinks he should be get special treatment being a professional athlete and a Cup winner.

Yep the chances of him re-signing are pretty slim, wouldn't be surprised at all if Toronto trades for the rights of Weiss or go after him in free agency. And also they will probably go hard after Clarkson. MacArthur won't be back book it so his cap space will either be eatten up by a free agent signing or a RFA being re-signed. Either way looks like Nonis is antsy to make moves.

Yup, every time he is ID'ed, he says "Do you know who I am? I'm Brad Marchand, I won the Stanley Cup with the Boston Bruins."

It's pretty much how he introduces himself at social functions, as well.

I'm glad to say I don't know anyone who acts like that. I would not associate with them, that's for sure.
