They have a combined cap hit of 3.8 million. Burish does his job as a 4th liner and is an animal in the face off circle. He's good on the PK and draws some penalties. Torres playing like he did last year is worth a lot more than he took in SJ. Terrifying to play against and has scoring touch to go with it. If they can find a way to part with Havlat and bring in a top 6/9 forward to play with either of their 3 lines they'll be tough to beat. He's not investing in these guys to score tons of goals. They're role players and perform their roles well

Looks like the western division will need to be keeping their heads up

At least he isn't in our division.

If he can clean his game up and not hurt his team by taking suspensions for completely unnecessary hits this will be a great deal for San Jose.

I can understand if you're concerned about Torres injuring one of your players since he's staying out West, but I'm not sure why you have such a problem with how DW fills his roster.

Unless it's a round-about way of saying you hope Torres doesn't hurt one of the the guys on your team.

Good job not knowing what your talking about. If it weren't for the risk of getting screwed by him being suspended, Torres would have been able to make a lot more on the open market. Probably could have anyways. When he's not doing stupid ****, he's actually a valuable offensive player.

"This season, Torres scored north of two points per 60 even-strength minutes, good for 65th among forwards (Click for Stats) and ahead of players like Anze Kopitar, Claude Giroux and Pavel Datsyuk (also more than every Shark save Brent Burns and Logan Couture). What's particularly impressive is that this was far from a one-year outlier courtesy the vagaries of a shortened season. Especially on the goal-scoring front, Torres has always been a very productive player at evens and ranks 58th in goals per 60 since 2008 (Click for Stats) despite having played for five different teams over that span; this isn't a case of a player consistently leeching off superior linemates."

Well, the fact that Burish, an average 4th liner who is decent on the PK is paid about the same as an elite 3rd liner is bad. The reason for this is because our GM and coach over value rings and experience and "veteran leadership" and are willing to overpay Burish by about .5M.

Not to mention it's pretty ridiculous to mention full salart like that like its an awful thing, without even mentioning term. The contracts last what, 6 years combined now, and pay about 11.5M from here on out.

So, no, you seem to know nothing about the Sharks.

If the guy JUST PLAYS HOCKEY, it's a good move. Thing is, he can't seem to change his game. He's a head hunter, and the next one could possibly be his last.

What is baffling, however, is the complete 180 some fans do when Torres is on their team. Intentionally injuring other players is a loathsome act, always, and players that do it should be universally shunned.

Agreed. The guy is a great skater, quite fast. He knows how to be around the puck. He impacts the game every time he plays. He's smart enough and fast enough to be serviceable on the 2nd line in a pinch.

Your grapes are so sour!

But I do hate this signing. I really wished he would have come back to the Coyotes or gone to the East.

I understand $13.4 million, but don't add the years. Why would you add the years together?

That makes no sense. yes, 4 years for Burish is ridiculous, but it will be over in 3 more seasons.

Awesome signing by the Sharks. I'm not going to like playing him 6 times a year next year in the new division.
