Probably, but I'm hoping they sign CoHo long term.

everyone keeps saying Grigorenko can't come to the AHL this year, but i read on another thread (somewhere on our board) that if the Remparts waive (or something along those lines) him, he'd be eligable. is there any accuracy in that?
as for Hodgson, i'd give him Myers offer, maybe add a year or two.

That feels expensive for a guy who hasnt played a full season in Buffalo yet.
I figured 3-4 mil per range.

Yep. If they release him, he's no longer a CHL player and would be free to join the Amerks. I doubt it happens though. Why would they just cut him loose for nothing when they could likely get a good haul trading him?

I can see a 3/10 million dollar deal for Hodgson, maybe 3/12.

My post from the draft sections:

Instead of drafting, trade for young stars, quick rebuild!

Let's go in a different direction and just say ******* the 2013 draft altogether!!!!!!

1. 8th & Grigs & one of our seconds for Duchene (age - 22) - overpayment, sure but we get a #1 center.

2. 16th & Miller & Sekera & one of our seconds & 50% of Miller's salary for Couturier (Age - 20) (I looked the spelling up Tip!) & Read (age - 27). Overpayment, sure but we get our shutdown, two way center.

3. Sign Vanek to extension, he'd have to be happy after these two moves.

The cupboard stays stacked, except for Grigs.

Vanek - Duchene - Stafford (Yuck)
Ennis - Hodgson - Ott/Foligno
Foligno/Ott - Couturier - Read
Flynn -??? - Kaleta

Leino, Gerbe, Porter, Scott

Gives us Armia, Girgs, Larson, Tropp, etc to fill out the roster this year and next, solid down the middle, decent size throughout each line. Doesn't cost us the farm but get's us a few years advanced from drafting these guys.

Colorado would call that an underpayment, and probably be right.

I think to get Duchene would be a 3 for 1 deal of
#8 + Grigs + 2nd/Dman

I prefer to hold onto #38. could use that and #16 to move up to #10-12.

I would be very surprised Colorado does this. Then Colorado would pick MacK at #1 and then pick a dman at #8.

You would be very wrong in that thought unless the D-man in question is Myers.

That's awful, Duchene is not that good. I wouldn't even do 8 + Grigorenko.

If Philadelphia misses out on Bernier, would you guys move Miller for Read?

Not Read. He seems to be the expendable guy in Philadelphia. I'd hold out for Couturier.

I'm not sure about Read. He'd be a good 3rd line RW but Buffalo has a glut of RWs. Even though none of them are any good after Ott (who can play LW but that's full too) I don't see Read as an answer. He's almost as old as Stafford and when Stafford gets the door Armia will be ready for a shot in the top six. Rolston has to figure out who stays between Kaleta, Flynn, and Tropp.

Just a thought...

If we trade Ehrhoff/Rej + 8 for 5 + 35, how would we feel about 16 + 38 for Letang? Letang replaces and upgrades our defense and helps convince Vanek to stay. We still hold 35 as an early 2nd rounder and come away from the draft with Lindholm.

First deal isn't great for Buffalo, second is awful for the Pens. I also don't really care much for Letang.

I'd do Sekera + 16 + a later round pick for 5 though. Draft Lindholm or Monahan at 5, then Ristolianen or Zadorov at 8.

I think Letang is asking way too much, and he's not a complete D-man. In fact the games I watched, including in person against Carolina, he was a defensive liability.

I agree that Sekera + #8 for #5 and #35 isn't great, but I don't think Car is willing to move down past #10 at the very worst. I'd like to think that, as part of agreeing to that trade, that Regier would already have another deal worked out to move up from #16 with #35 from Car (or maybe the #38). I think an equal player can be had between #8 and about #12 (Risto, Horvat, Zadarov, Nurse, Shinkaruk), so I don't see losing #8 as very damaging.
