St. Louis - Boston

Boston needs cap relief this off season to sign Horton and Rask to extensions. St. Louis needs some help at the center position. So I propose;

Rich Peverly to St. Louis for F prospect, Sam Kurker.

Peverly would fill in as our third line C and give us a little better stability in that position.

Sam Kurker is a Boston University product going into his sophomore season. Has second line potential but needs time to develop. Probably a good 3 years away from sniffing the NHL.

How's it work?

I'd do this, however without a 1st this year the forward depth for the blues may be limited with Jaskin and Rattie near the NHL.

The Blues still have plenty of forward prospects.

Sergey Andronov, Cody Beach, McKenzie McEachern, Phil mcRae (who I see still having 3rd line center upside), Evgeny Grachev (who has NHL defensive skills), Ty Rattie, Dmitrij Jaškin, Ryan Tesink, Yannick Veillieux, and Sebastian Wannstrom.

Moving Kurker wouldn't hurt the prospect depth plus we'd be filling a hole.

Would St. Louis give up their 2013 2nd round pick instead?

No way, that would leave the blues without a first and a second round pick. I'd be willing to trade the 3rd rounder from this year, as it is a deep draft.

Besides Rattie and Jaskin none of those will make a significant impact. sure they could all be solid, but the depth would take a toll.

I think the Bruins could probably do better than Kurker with a better prospect or a 2nd from another team.

Peverley isn't worth a 2nd rounder

Not my first choice but its not a bad back up plan. Would rather keep Kurker though.

When are you going to become a Bruins fan?

I think you've overplayed your hand one too many times already.

I think there's teams willing to to acquire Peverley for a 2nd. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Peverley is a 3rd line player-----why do you even want him given the ST Louis cap situaton?

What cap situation? We aren't likely to get a #1 center, and Peverley is a good, plausible back-up plan.

There is no cap situation. Why do you come in every Blues thread and say there is? You are literally the only person that thinks that.

Peverley would definitely be a great addition to that Blues team looking to make that next step as a franchise in the playoffs. I'll read up on the prospect. I also thought Peverley was a great fit in Edmonton and I'd imagine their offer would be tempting.

St Louis cap situation? Aren't they about 25th in salary?

The contracts for Pietrangelo and Shattenkirk remain to be seen, but it looks like probably about $5M in cap space left after that, and 2 forwards need to be added to the roster. If Halak or Stewart or Perron or Berglund are dealt, shedding that salary creates even more room depending what's coming back.

So....no, no salary cap situation in comparison to other teams struggling to fit under the decreasing cap.

Peverly (along with all other bruins that make more than 1.5) have no trade clauses, unfortunately for the bruins I dont see them bringing Horton back to stay under the salary cap.

Blues do not need another 2nd, or 3rd line Center. Blues need a 1st line Center, please make a note of it.

I didn't think so, I knew they had Pietrangelo and Shattenkirk to re-sign but I thought they had plenty of cap space to get that done.

No on the original deal but I'd do Peverley for Beach and Erstad. Both are currently way down your depth chart. Peverley can submit a 15 team list this year so it is a limited NTC if NTCs really matter.

Djp thinks that Pietrangelo is going to cost ~$8m, Berglund ~$4.5m and Stewart ~$5m.

They are all desperate to sign offersheets as well

And if Army can get a solid deal for a number one center great. This is a basis of if he can't. We still need to add a center and Peverly would be a good option. Chill out.

Sure. Pretty much an obscure prospect would be available lol.
