I don't understand how the Oilers think:

a) he can be worse than Plante and Teubert

or

b) that a 6'5'' 240lbs defenseman who can skate and has some puck skills won't get any interest from around the league
Plante and Teubert have combined for 3 games this post season, it's obvious that those two are done with the organization. They've been replaced with vet's like Jones Stafford, and Hotham. With the number of young D on the Barons (Fedun, Davidson, Marincin) and an influx ready to join them next season (Gernat, Klefbom, Musil) they really don't really have room to fit him anywhere.

I don't think the Oilers are too concerned about Bigos signing elsewhere, from a depth position it's a risk they should be willing to make rather than take up a contract spot for a player who likely would be ~12th on the defensive depth chart.

Interesting to see who the Oilers don't bring back as far as contract players that have not made the team yet. Plante, Peckham, Cornet, who do you guys think.

That sure didn't take long..... I guess he's done chasing his NHL dream for now at least. I really wish that he would've done better on this side of the pond, the Oilers haven't had a player like him in many years.

Maybe Teubert as well, not sure that he'd be considered of much use if he was a HS for most of the postseason.

Safe to say Pitlick is a dud draft pick?

If he embraces a more consistent physical game, he could be an NHL 4th liner, but I wouldn't expect anything beyond that.

Pitlick definitely does a lot better in the playoffs which is a positive sign. Playing for a contract next year it will definitely be a make or break year for him.

I'd be fine with bringing Cornet back, maybe on an AHL deal. If the Oilers could turn Teubert's rights into something useful like a late pick that would be nice.

We need Cornet and Arcobello up in the NHL, also why haven't we signed Joey Laleggia?? He put up 82 points in 58 games in Pentiction in the BCHL a few years back!

Not sure if serious....

Cornet in the NHL??
Arcobello maybe
Laleggia has 2 years left in college. He can't sign or he will be ineligible.

Joey LaLeggia is a university student so there is no rush to sign him for at least 2-3 more years

Cornet doesn't belong in the NHL at this point and Arcobello's size and skill set in relation to our other top 6 forwards means that he'll be in very tough to stick with the big club. Laleggia should finish college so that we get basically free developmental time that doesn't count against his waiver eligibility.

If they wait 3 years to sign him there won't be a rush because he'll have been a UFA for a year...

Actually I kind of agree now that I look at all. But we still haven't signed LaLeggia have we?

IMO we should've drafted Petrovic or Faulk and Zucker in the second round that year.

The day that we sign him his NCAA career is over. I doubt that we'd try to sign him prior to the end of his Junior season and that IMO would be at the earliest. Let him get stronger at the NCAA level before we ask him to turn pro.

They can't sign him because he's still in the NCAA. NCAA players can't be signed to professional contracts. When NHL teams draft NCAA players they don't usually sign them until after their 3rd or 4th year. Because the oilers farm system is so full of dmen they can leave Laleggia to develop in the NCAA before signing him to a contract. They have 1-2 more years for him to develop and gain experience and for them to decide if they want to sign him.
