NEW YORK—With a week to go before pitchers and catchers report for spring training, the New York Yankees shored up their pitching, hitting, and defense Monday by signing every player in professional baseball.

Some of the New York Yankees' newest additions are introduced to the press.

"We'd like to welcome the entire roster of Major League Baseball into the Yankees family," said team owner George Steinbrenner, watching as the franchise's 928 newest additions held up their pinstripes at a Yankee Stadium press conference. "With these acquisitions, we are in position to finally nab that elusive 27th World Series title."

No, the article states that the Flyers are trying to sign / draft / offer-sheet / trade for everyone. In Toronto, it would be that everyone naturally wanted to play in Toronto.

Somewhat, although I like the cap space complication.

Are you joking me? If we got that return Homer should be arrested for grand theft.

Nino is going to be an outstanding forward in 4 years. Pokka would be our best prospect on D, (depending on how the draft goes).

Snow would NEVER do this deal though.

Kings fan dropping by to ask fan opinion on Tim Panaccio of CSNPhilly. Is he a reliable/relevant source? His recent article:

Quote:
While the Flyers remain in the sweepstakes chase for L.A. Kings backup goalie Jonathan Bernier, the stakes have been raised.

Much higher, it seems.

Sources say the Toronto Maple Leafs have significantly anted up the price to pry Bernier from the Kings and this is yet another reason why the Flyers can’t make a final decision on whether to file a compliance buyout on goalie Ilya Bryzgalov.

The Leafs, New York Islanders, Florida Panthers, Minnesota Wild and now the New Jersey Devils reportedly are in the bidding, but sources say Toronto might be offering more than others are willing to pay.

“We’re not really talking,” said one Flyers source, which likely means general manager Paul Holmgren can’t match what others are offering Kings GM Dean Lombardi for a guy many feel could have been a No. 1 starter were it not for how well Jonathan Quick has performed.

Thanks, was confusing because he is marked everywhere as the "Flyers Insider", but the Kings' league insider page doesn't have him listed. Guess we are behind the times

Here are some more things which are just as reliable as Timmy for hockey coverage:

Rocks
Sloths
Most dead birds
The dude working the register at Dunkin Donuts in 30th St Station
The chocolate frosted donuts at that Dunkin Donuts
Parking meters
Gumby

It really can't be emphasized enough how bad Timmy is at most everything relating to hockey or writing. Eklund is more connected to the Flyers and thats not even an exaggeration.

Well, maybe a slight one.

F. I really want to see that Flyers sign Nathan Horton this year and Joe Pavelski next year, if they hit the UFA market and Flyers has enough cap space to do the signings. That would be really awesome with these two in the team.

I like how you clarified that Tim P is more reliable than some dead birds.

Now which DD are you referring to? The one in the main hub is my go to for info, but I've received some good nuggets of knowledge at the one in the overpass to the Cira Center.

A little off thread topic but also one of the media clowns who likely drove Mike Richards out of town

I agree with you that he is the best hockey writer in town but in this position, he wouldn't last long. He only goes with the plain coated facts not far fetched rumors or pap dumped into his lap by a PR department.

Meltzer's writing is too sophisticated from a reading level for the average person ..he serves a niche readership. Panaccio should be the sports columnist for the National Enquirer...

With Florida and Toronto looking at Bernier, I wouldn't mind seeing the asking price on players like Reimer or Markstrom. Reimer is unlikely to move, but Florida for some reason has constantly been looking for a starting goalie, they seem to have wavering confidence in him.

Markstrom must have some serious character flaws or something, because if given the choice, I'd rather have Markstrom than Bernier. This is like the 3rd or 4th consecutive season where Florida has been tied to acquisition of another goaltender in spite of having what I believe to be the best goalie prospect in the game today (yes, better than Gibson for me).

Yeah I agree. I'd take Markstrom over Bernier too. I wonder if a deal involving Bernier would also involve Markstrom? If he could be had for cheaper thatn Bernier, I would at least inquire about him. Read and something inconsequential for Markstrom + Goc? What's the value of Goc? Seems like he'd be a solid 3rd/4th liner. Maybe just offer sheet Markstrom, though I imagine the Panthers would match.
