Seriously, why would Boston do this?

They're tight against the cap, so they're going to trade a rookie contract who has potential to be great in this league for a defenseman who can't play defense who is going to be making a lot of money? And they want the Bruins to throw in a 3rd? What?

Boston can't take on a$7M player and give up and ELC player. In order to afford Letang they would have to let there to big UFAs (Jagr, horton) walk.

this deal is effectively

Letang for a 3rd, Hamilton, and the rights to Jagr and Horton.

Imagine Letang's first shift for the Bruins, lol, he comes back to the bench after being on the ice for a goal against, Claude says "take a seat, I will let you know when you are up again" ...... time passes

And I didn't know saying "has all the tools and upside to be better than Letang" is blatantly saying he will be better than Letang. You're just putting words in my mouth because your analogy was bad.

I'm not discrediting Letang either. I love watching him skate and he's had a few great years. Would be excellent if Pitt could find him a decent partner. He's just not what we need at the cap hit he will be looking for.

PS your remark about Bennett doesn't make any sense. How were they supposed to play him earlier in his career? He was at DU, I know this because I go there.
Wasn't putting words in your mouth, that remark was geared more towards the one's who say either "he already is better - I wouldn't trade him straight up now". So my apologies.

More so Bennett could have played a lot more this year. Should of played a lot more. Same with Despres.

If you were willing to part with the package for iginla for only two months why woul you offer less for letang? If its because of less money then couldn't pens hold onto letang till deadline?

Iginla filled a need. We have no need for Letang.

Imagine Hamilton's first game and he is on the ice for a goal against and Bylsma says, "get your popcorn ready".

Season goes along.... Hamilton spends the next month in the press box...

He finally gets back in... Makes a mistake.... Enjoys more popcorn....

Rinse and repeat.

im guessing that savard retiring would kill boston with that whole... recovering benefit thingy... his deal was very front loaded

im sure he wont retire anyhow... luckily

Horton already is not affordable... his leaving does absolutely nothing to free up cap space.

if we want to keep Horton.. we are going to have to make cuts

letang is completely impossible unless we move chara to free up the room

sounds like you have no idea what he's referring to.

he's pointing out the fact that Bylsma HATES playing rookies/young players waiting to get their shot. he'd play Bennett and Despres for about 10 minutes per game, if at all. when they didn't score a goal or made a small mistake, they'd be on the bench for the next 20 minutes of game time.

That makes zero sense. Just because he's not a need doesn't mean he's worth less.

I don't need another house, so I guess I could get it for well under market value??????

Pens don't need another center, so maybe trade sutter and. 3rd for kesler?

What the **** are you talking about. We offered the package we offered for Iginla because we needed him. We got Jagr instead for cheaper. We don't need an offensive first ****ing defensive liability on the ice. Sorry, you can take that elsewhere. We wouldn't offer the package you "deem perfect" for a player we don't have a need for and can't afford anyway.

What about my post is so hard to comprehend?

At least you can laugh at your own lack of reading comprehension.

I find it funny also, so we at least agree on that.

Why is this thread not locked?

Pens aren't trading letang to Boston, ESP for that minimal return. Boston doesn't have the cap space nor would want to trade the assets for letang.

Shero wont trade within eastern conf unless its overpayment.

What's so hard to understand about my post?!?!

Your not getting letang for less than what's he worth, need or not. Not rocket science. Read all of my posts in fact. We're not a match. I'm not even the one who proposed this lopsided trade.

I don't think Boston is that desperate? Keep Hamilton and the 3rd... they are going to be serious cup contenders for decades to come. Pittsburgh? Not so much.

That's fine, I told you we don't want him anyway.

To the second part, I have no clue

If Savard retired this year then the Bruins would take a $2m cap hit I believe until 2016-2017.

Terrible deal. Hamilton is still a prospect at this point and Letang is coming off a Norris season.
