Denmark have had some Kings named Valdemar (which is a danish version of slavic Vladimir, since the first King Valdemar the Great had a Rus viking mother named Ingeborg).
Valdemar the Victorious and Valdemar Dawn-Again are later Danish kings.

Stangely enough you also have Czech people named Valdemar???

Eliteprospects have 6 Valdemar hockey players. 4 Danish and 2 Czech. Even stranger the 4 Danish players are from the 90's, the two Czechs are from the 70's.
So Czech d-man Valdemar Jirus is the closest to a star player with many seasons in the Czech league under his belt.

So it seems the team has to be based mostly on Russian Vladimirs, until these 4 danish kids come at age! (2 1995, 1 1997 and 1 1998 players)

Hope I didn't forget anyone.
Petri Skriko should be there. Petteri Nummelin maybe. Pekka is also Finnish version of Peter, so Pekka Rautakallio could be considered.

I'm not doing research, but some tips about Finnish names.

John= Johannes in Finnish -> Jussi, Juha, Hannu, Joni, Janne, Hannes, all common Finnish names, all NHL names too. You'll be surprised how many Hannus there have been in NHL.

Michael = Mikko, Mika. Koivu and Mäkelä are some good Mikkos out there.

Christian = Christian, Risto. Risto Siltanen for example was very good defenceman in his time. Christian Ruuttu was solid NHL'er.

Matthew = Matti. Very common Finnish name, but not very common hockey name for some reason. Matti Hagman was the first Finnish NHL'er who learned to play in Finland.

Thomas = Tommi, Tomi, Tom, Tuomo, Tuomas. All NHL names.

Anthony = Toni.

Andrew = Antti, Antero. Antti is very common name in Finland and I think also the most common name of Finnish NHL players. (At least Niemi, Laaksonen, Törmänen, Aalto, Antti-Jussi Niemi, Pihlström.)

William = Ville. Quite many Villes have played in NHL.

Then theres Olli, Saku (Zachary), Jere (Jeremy), Sami (Samuel), Niklas (Nicholas) and so on.

Probably not seeing as there are 7 Vladimirs in the IIHF HoF and only 2 of them are Russian.

But a search on eliteprospects show almost 200 russian players named Vladimir. With Vladimir Fetisov and Vladimir Konstantinov we already have a good d-pair!

Then we should include the "Vladimirovich" middle name. For instance Pavel/Valeri Vladimirovich Bure.

Must be enough Russian Vladimir(ovich) to build a decent team!

A European poster could probably fill this out better than I could, but here goes:

Vladimir Krutov - Vladimir Petrov - Vladimir Martinec
Vladimir Ruzicka - Vladimir Shadron - Vladimir Vikulov
Vladimir Zabrodsky

Vladimir Lutchenko - Vladimir Konstantinov
Vladimir Malakhov

Vladimir Dzurilla
Vladimir Myshkin

My bad....got caught up "Vladimiring" to many players.
So perhaps two good Vladimir teams can be formed.

Here's my shot, starting with your roster:

Vladimir Krutov/Vladimir Petrov/Vladimir Martinec
Vladimir Zabrodsky/Vladimir Shadron/Vladimir Vikulov
Vladimir Ruzicka/Vladimir Stransky/Vladimir Tarasenko
Vladimir Tsyplakov/Vladimir Sobotka/Vladimir Lavrentiev
Vladimir Orzagh
Vladimir Vorobiev

Vladimir Lutchenko/Vladimir Konstantinov
Vladimir Malakhov/Vladimir Lokotko
Vladimir Chebaturkin/Vladimir Mihalik
Vladimir Denisov

Vladimir Dzurilla
Vladimir Myshkin

Might be able to ride their top talent through a playoff series or two, but they'll never be a contender.

Yeah but it's not exactly rubbish either. They will still beat a lot of other names around!

If you could include other language's versions of John, you could get some more good ones (most notable Jean Beliveau).

Team Ryan would probably be the best current team.

Ryan Kesler
Ryan Callahan
Ryan Suter
Ryan Getzlaf
Ryan Miller
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins
Ryane Clowe
Ryan O'Reilly
Bobby Ryan?
Ryan Strome
Ryan Johansen
Ryan Malone
Ryan Smyth

I dunno, how about...

Jonathan Huberdeau/Jonathan Toews/Jannik Hansen
Johan Franzen/John Tavares/Jan Mursak
Johan Larsson/Jonathan Toews (again!)/Jonathan Audy-Marchesseault
Jon Rheault/Jack Skille/Jean-Gabrieal Pageau

Jonas Brodin/Jack Johnson
Joni Pitkanen/Jonathan Ericsson
John Carlson/John Erskine
Johnny Boychuk

Jonathan Quick
Jonas Hiller

I'd say that beats team Ryan.
