Uh. Backstrom might. He could get up to 3.5 and Minnesota would be fine.

And its more like Veilleux/Poms/Coyle taking over for Clutter/Butch/Cullen not much of a drop off there. In fact, Wild have an abundance of wingers. As it stands right now:

Parise Koivu Poms
Zucker Coyle Seto
Mitchell Brodziak Heatley
Veilleux Konopka Rupp

Suter Brodin
Scandella Spurgeron
Gilbert Stoner
Falk

Backstrom
Harding

Seems to be the lineup as of now and that'll get under the cap.

you do know backstrom isnt young anymore right? hes not the same goalie he once was in 06-07
he got his 4 year 24M deal right after he came off his 3 best seasons, hes obviously gonna get a huge paycut

Gilbert sucks anyways, was SOOO happy when the Oilers traded him. He looks like a clown and plays like one. Seriously play circus music in the background while he has the puck and it just feels right.

He played great for Minnesota. He was sick this year. How's Schultz working out for ya?

I'd take Gilbert any day over Nick Schultz.

I don't care about Schultz. Gilbert was terrible on Edmonton, I would have traded him foe a 7th round pick at the time.

You're a fan of a team that traded this player for another defenceman.

You say Gilbert is awful, yet other fans would prefer him to the other defenceman you got in return.

Maybe reconsider how you criticize a player.

Did you watch him play for 4 years? Probably not, I have a right to criticize a player I saw play hundreds of games.

Gilbert has done fine in Minnesota. Maybe because Edmonton has sucked that's why Gilbert sucked ?

I would not be shocked to see Gilbert back in Edmonton. No risk for one year. He is a decent if unspectacular dman. Needs to be playing 18 minutes and none on the PK to be at his best. MacT didn't dislike his game at all.

someone mentioned about pmb being replaced... I dont even think pmb has played 4 full seasons within the last yr... I rather take a prospect for the season and give him a chance to prove himself then pay pmb 3-4 mill only to play 25-50% of the season to me not worth it at all

Pens fan here with the obligatory Niskanen for Clutterbuck proposal. Say it enough and it comes true, right?

Maybe their might not be a big market for him but I think you might find 1 or 2 teams willing to take him for cheap

Habs would offer decent prospect or pick for Clutterbuck. Something like Kristo?

That really seems like the best deal that has been floating around between the two teams. It's a win/win for both clubs. I like these nice simple hockey trades.

Personally, I'd be more interested in a left wing or defensive prospect, so a guy like Bozon or Thrower. Would that work?

Possible...which one? We are deep in defense prospect could move Thrower

Thrower and a low pick would be enough for me personally. I'm not sure how many other Wild fans would like it, but it would be doable in my book.

Edmonton needs Clutterbuck...What would it take from them to grab him? A decent d-prospect and a mid pick maybe? Something like Musil + Anaheims 2nd?

If Komarov does go back to the KHL, which is likely, then I hope we can grab Clutterbuck.
