I wouldn't mind him. He put up some pretty good numbers last year.

Well they just said on the CBC Hotstove that the Kings like our package the best for
Bernier's services and apparently it doesn't include Couts.
Wonder what's on the table apart from the assumed Read

PHI considered favourite for Bernier if that's what Flyers want to do, but they have told LA Couturier not available...

As a leafs fan coming in peace, what would you offer for Reimer?

I could still see something like Read or Read + 3rd around that for Bernier.

I wonder if it would be a pick from 2013 or later? The last two trades we made Homer didn't give up a pick from this draft, Mason (2015 3rd) & Streit (2014 4th).

I would have to imagine Schenn holds more value right now than Couturier. If Couturier's a no-go for Bernier than I doubt Schenn would be on the table.

Your right. I really don't think that GM's are throwing too much at the kings though considering Bernier is still pretty much untested in the NHL.

Hopefully its not more than that. Then if mason and Bernier play well I'm sure we'll sell one of them for a good return in the future.

There is really no reason for either of the schenns, Couturier, Simmonds, voracek, or giroux (like that needs to be said) to be available for anything less that elusive #1 defenseman. And we all know that isn't going to happen

From what I can gather from this situation is the Kings are setting the bar pretty high (who wouldn't) but not coming up with any bites.

The fact is that young goalies with potential just don't hold the value that they probably should (unless you're Colorado lol). You can blame the unpredictability of the position for that.

Thats the way it seems. And to be honest im not very high on trading Read for him. I wouldn't be completely pissed about that but i'd rather trade something closer to what we got for Bob (2nd and 4th)

Mason was really good for us. I wonder how he would react to us getting Bernier?

Malkin reupping for all of those years only reinforces we really cant move Coots. I think its easy to forget how dominant he is because we've had Coots handling him for the most part the past 2 seasons.

The hope would be that the two of them push eachother to be better and then we keep the better one and trade the other after the season.

Agree. This is the best case scenario.

I wonder what kind of contract Bernier would want/get?

From what I read, LA has no 1st pick this year and really wanted one to be part of any trade. If we did give up a 1st plus Read, I will be very disappointed.

That would be absolutely terrible. Homer has made some questionable moves in the past, but I hope he isn't that stupid
