Looks like Connor Murphy is injured again, I hope this isn't related to the back problems he was having before we drafted him. I'm afraid he'll never make the big club if he continues to get seriously injured, he has a lot of potential if he can stay healthy.

I've been wondering the same thing and have not seen any response to this, so I thought I'd bump it. He's in my pool, and I'm wondering if I should trade him if he'll be out for most of the season.

Some sort of foot injury...possible bone problem. I am guessing 2 more weeks.

We got him for a 2nd rounder and he led us to two playoff series victories. We are extremely pleased. Nobody expected that.

He's not an ideal number one but he plays a better than advertised two way game and is among league leaders in the face off circle. We are happy.

I would say 2 weeks ago I was very dissatisfied with him, but he's been playing much better and putting in that extra effort that he wasn't doing before and doing a much better job keeping puck possession in the offensive zone.

Anyone have a copy of the study which showed how valuable Yandle's transition game is? Would be nice to set the record straight on the main boards.

If you mean this one:

http://www.hockeyprospectus.com/arti...articleid=1467

remember it had a very small sample size, rough average of 13 games per team.

Montreal has 3 second rounders. One of those would be of interest.

Only that ? I'd love to see him next to Galchenyuk and Eller while Bourque is still out.

According to Portland Pirates game broadcast today Rundblad and Bolduc have been recalled. Schlemko and Biz left early last night with injuries.

Chris Brown NHL next year??

Hey guys, I dont think there has been a thread made for Chris Brown in the Coyotes section, but i wanted to ask the Yotes fans what everyone thinks of him thats seen him play in AHL and the handful of games in NHL. I really like what Ive read about him and think these type of players are the types every team wants. Looks like he had a real good AHL season...Will he stick in the NHL next season???

Very likely Brown sees regular time on the 4th line next season, in addition to being on the 2nd PP unit screening the goalie. Should do fine in an energy role, as long as he refrains from dropping the gloves.

Does he have top 6 power forward potential?

I think Brown has more of a David Clarkson upside, though he already has a way better shot. Consistent 15-20 goal scorer with 75+ PIMs and 150+ hits, which probably translates to a 3rd line power forward.

He'll get some games but he needs to work on his puck handling. Stick handles like he's chopping wood.

Mikkel Boedker

1st of all what is everyone's expectations of Boedker? has he shown more then his stat line? I was always a huge fan of his but its starting to look like he should be more of a low end 2nd liner then a low end first / high end 2nd liner

He has shown more than his stat line would indicate. He's had to become a Dave Tippett player, which is not easy for young players, and not very beneficial to their stat lines early on. I still expect him to be that low end first liner/high end second liner. He's just had to take a longer road than most kids his age. He'll end up a much more effective and valuable player because of it, however.

Now, if we could just get his ass under contract.

Boeds probably won't be the go-to goal scorer we all kinda want him to be; he has a good, accurate shot, but he's still very pass-first. Still, his play and maturity developing into a responsible two-way winger Tippett wants is better than what his stat line will indicate. His numbers will certainly improve, especially if he gets regular time with Ribeiro.

Right now I'll peg him as a speedy, playmaking 1st/2nd line tweener. 20 goal/50+ point ceiling, but could be capable of 60+ points.

Doan expectations

Pens fan entering in peace. After signing Ribeiro, what kind of stats do you Yotes fans expect from Doaner? He's getting older every day, but last season he still threw his body and shot the puck like possessed and I'm wondering will Ribeiro be able to up Doan's stats as mad as he did for Ovechkin in Caps?

There were a lot of factors in Doans performance in addition to age last season. So I think a rebound was likely even without Ribeiro.

For one he had NO power play goals last season despite averaging over 2 min PP time a game. While I wouldn't completely absolve Doan from blame, the team's PP as a whole was downright awful. Plus his even strength goal total was pretty good for just a half season.

I think 55 points is a reasonable expectation. Though I'm not sure how much the Ribeiro addition specifically is going to be part of that. It's always been tough to get Doan to fit in a line even at his peak.

Re: Doan's performance. Who knows? We'll see. It's still not settled who the third person is going to be on that first line, so let's check back in a month and at least see how the preseason went.

Wish people wouldn't use phrases like "entering in peace" ... it's a message board ... what do you think we're going to do to you?

I think Doan's best seasons remaining will approach 60 points, but he's more likely to fall between 50-60 points at this point in his career. I don't expect any more 70+ point seasons like in the past because he's slowed down just that much more. Speaking in round numbers I expect 20-30-50 out of him +/- a few in any category.

Doan has never shown that much chemistry with anyone in my opinion. I think his best center was probably Reinprecht although he has had brief stints with Lombardi and Upshall that looked productive. I don't see Ribs doing much for Doan if you're expecting a sleeper pick. At this point I think you could stick Doan with just about anyone and he'd produce nearly the same with the same icetime.
