What do you mean really?
Yes, Really - it would be amazing to get a player such as McDavid. I didn't say I wish us to tank to get it, or do a crazy trade. Just that it would be really, super amazing if we somehow got that player.

So what teams would be interested in Bernier, considering that he has been guaranteed starting minutes?
Teams that need a starting goalie:
New York Isles
Teams that might need a starting goalie because current goalie is 35+ and done soon:
New Jersey Devils (Brodeur)
Calgary Flames (Kipper)
Teams that might need a starting goalie because they might consider trading/buying out the one that they currently have for various reasons:
Pittsburgh (Fleury - Lost a step, bad playoffs)
Buffalo (Miller - seems to be some conflict with the organization)
Philly (Bryzgalov - Crazy, overpaid and inconsistent)
Phoenix (Smith - if he walks)
Teams that don't really have an established starter, but have young talent that could become that:
Tampa (Lindback, Bishop)
So, who would we most likely flip him to if that was the plan?
1. New York Isles (part of Dipietro trade)
2. New Jersey (part of trade for Clarkson's rights)
3. Philly (part of trade for Bryz [buyout])
4. Phoenix (part of trade for 12th overall)
5. Tampa (part of trade for Vinny + 3rd overall)
Personally, I'm feeling like we flip him to either New York or Phoenix.
One guy I keep hearing rumors about is Kevin Bieksa out of Vancouver. Would you guys have any interest in him?
I think he's the exact type of Dman we need to take a bit of the burden off of Phaneuf and make our D a really great group.
It's hard to tell what type of return he would get, as maybe it's a bit lower than I would have thought based on the rumors, but I would deal our 1st++ for him. What would you guys think it might take?
Bieksa would be a perfect fit and i have said that for months!
He is a true #2 Dman that is a RHS and plays his strong side. He is exactly what Dion needs in a partner!
I would give up Frattin + 2nd for him but that's the max.
I am sick and tired of ppl using the excuse of "well he was stuck on the third lime" BS
Grabo is just not a very good player
I like him. His last 3 years with the Leafs in which he played at least 70 games he scored 20...29 and 23 goals while killing penalties. He's a great skater and his effort level has always been high except for portions of this year which may or may not be related to his role on the team and/or his stomach problems. He's a good second line center when given the proper wingers . He is overpaid however (which isnt his fault...you'll always take what you can get...wouldnt we?). I'd like him at 3.5 to 4 mil in this salary cap world.
Just to comment above, there is no way Kadri gets 3.9-4M unless its on a 3+ year deal. You have to remember he is an RFA, teams are squeezing all their RFA's in terms of contract (subban, Duchene). You have to also remember it was a shortened season, in which he started to tail off towards the end.
I think realistically, he takes 3-3.25M on a two year deal
Didn't say he was not good, I said he was easy to replace, and he is.
I disagree. We haven't had a tough, physical defenceman like him in a long time.He may be slow but used properly as he was he was very effective in my opinion.A team needs a blend of different types of forwards and defencemen. He has his place and we have a fighter (That Carlyle covets) who can actually play. Hopefully players like Fraser and other are signalling the end of "strictly goons" who can't play the game.
Looking at the Kings entire organization I think they should have more interest in adding another Dman in a trade for Bernier then a winger like Frattin.
They played 4 Dmen over 20 minutes in the playoffs. Of those 4, Voynov and Doughty will be there for years. But the others are a different story with Scuderi being a UFA this year and even he returns he's 35. Regehr is 33 and signed for 2 more years. There D prospect pool isn't anything special. They did have significant injuries to Mitchell and Greene but both of them are UFAs at the end of the year. Mitchell is also 36.
Gunnarson who won't ever make a big cap hit and would fit in as a 20 minute a night Dman for years seems like someone they should want more then a winger like Frattin.
If we sign Paul Ranger who could fill Gunnars spot on the roster I propose the following deal:
Greene (cap purposes and could play on our 3rd pair to buy a year of time till Rielly, Percy, Finn, Blacker are that much more developed)
