Maybe just signed try-out forms. Dev camp is in less than 2 weeks.

No interest in Fournier? Too bad.

They're on the habs roster which is odd.

Desjardins doesn't seem interesting based on stats.

Duffy is a little soft. No problem with giving MacAulay a chance.

EliteProspects says Duffy is going to the CIS route.

Awaiting Whitesnake analysis of the 3 players, but I approve of this if true.

Duffy should give the Dogs a boost offensively.

Desjardins and Mac are heart and soul guys from what I have seen. Mac has plenty of experience in a winning team context. Former teammate of Beaulieu too.

Of the four guys that were mentionned, he's the one I would try to get.

I agree, I would prefer these overage UFA prospects to be the gritty bottom 6 role player types than small/soft/skilled types.

Would be higher% to find one of the many Antoine Roussel/David Clarkson/Alex Burrows/etc type (off the top of my head, I know there are a lot more lesser types I'm forgetting) rather than try the more unlikely occurrence of another Desharnais/Conacher/St.Louis.

MacAuley seems like that guy.

I liked how he played with Hamilton in the pre-season.

Interesting signings. looks like low risk potentially high reward? I'm curious what people who watched them this year think of them.

The 3 of them being signed is very unlikely because we don't really have that many contracts available (50 contracts max)

They are probably just been invited for try-out.

I don't think that offering them pro contract would be a great idea, we don't want to repeat the same mistake we made with P.Lefebvre and D.Masse. However, giving them AHL contracts would be nice.

MacAulay is a nice player. Like him.

I wish they would've signed Fournier.

Desjardins is fast and can play physical. He's also a hard worker.

Desjardins reminds me a lot of Dumont, but I think he has more offensive potential. Same heart and soul type of player.

So, these basically qualify as undrafted prospects?

I have a hard time believing we'd give out ELCs to three guys with limited nhl potential without even seeing who's still available after the draft. Mostly because they're all recently turned/turning 21 which means they'd get 3 year deals. Maybe a camp invite or AHL contract?

Signing some undrafted guys is nice, but I was hoping for some AHL vets to get added to hamilton.

Duffy is an offensive machine, small but stocky.
McAulie is an all around type, could be a solid 3rd 4th liner in the NHL

This is more than likely the case. Ranford was added to the extended roster last year because he was supposed to try out with the team, then the lockout happened. Now I think he signed with Dallas.

I would assume that they were just invited, would seem to be a little odd to sign them to NHL contracts right before the development camp.

That link to the nhl.com roster also has players on it that are no longer in the organization like Patrick Johnson (who was never signed to begin with so no clue why he's listed).

agreed on the tryout part, but the Habs are at 38 contract currently although 3 of those should slid and 1 should be bought out. That leaves 34 contracts, with 6 UFA's, 8 RFA's. So depending on how many won't be back from the 14 expired contracts, we'll see how close they are to 50 but my guess would be at least half of those contracts won't be re-signed, leaving the Habs around the 40 mark. So they should have a few open contract spots to fill at some point this off-season.

2 of the 3 went undrafted, the other unsigned (much like Delmas and J.P.-Cote were when we signed them)

The interesting thing to me about Gabriel Desjardins is that perhaps the Habs liked what they saw from his teammate, Jean-Sebastien Dea who was passed over at the 2012 draft but perhaps after the season he just had he won't get passed again. Though I've never seen him so just going off the big jump in stats from his rookie year last season to this past season.
