Theodore is Beaulieu to Morin's Tinordi. While I like both guys, I hope a guy who offers something different is the BPA.

I never realized that your username had something to do with Theodore, I just figured it was some foreign word haha

Morin will be gone when we pick and that's a good thing.

I would be very happy with Erne or Rychel.

I wouldn't consider Theodore before the 34th overall, and even then, he isn't in my top 36.

My username is an homage to Theodore as well. Although drafting Shea wouldn't help in my case.

This regime emits a winning attitude and all of the hockey people are the best that there are. The Habs winning the SC with this team is only time, not if they will.
I really like Bergevin, but to say he is already a better GM than Serge Savard is crazy. Serge was the GM for 2 Stanley Cup winners, 3 Finals appearances, 5 semi final appearances, over saw maybe two of the best drafts in team history (1984 and 1987) in 12 years.

If the Habs are going with an offensive defenceman from the Dub, I'd much rather Bowey than Theodore. He needs time to progress, but I like his hockey smarts and physical attributes. Nice speed, great at pivots, he seems to prefer getting a wrister on the net than blasting the puck through the goalie. Bowey has a big physical edge over Theodore, he'll actually battle in the corners. He has a lot of positive attributes to work with. I wouldn't pick him before 34/36 though.

Enough with the offensive defensemen please, I think we've stocked enough plus we have a franchise one. Got other needs to fill than defense unless it's a Morin type.

Who are you talking about exactly? Subban is the franchise guy, obviously. The team has Beaulieu who should have an impact in the NHL, but the others are...Thrower and Nygren? Neither are sure-fire guys.

Take the BPA regardless. I was just responding to the people talking about Theodore. I believe if that type of defenceman is targeted, there are better choices.

Though not offensive, Heatherington is a someone that can be a big sleeper. He'll go in the 2nd, but I can see him making the NHL very quickly, even before most 1st rounders.

A centre would be good but I just dont think a centre is ever BPA at our picks. Hopefully Lodge might fall to 55, Kujawinski at 71 or Petersen at 86.

i think Saros may be a steal.

Saros won't last long in the league because of his size. If he is going to play his style of goaltending, he's going to need to go to a VERY stingy defensive team.

I would be so happy if Bowey drops but I think he goes in the late first to Dallas, Chicago or very early in the 2nd.

I like hartman more than most. Really liked what he did for USA at the WJC. i think he can turn into our Callahan-type.

I like Saros and Cal Petersen as goalies. Maybe Desrosiers or Martin will be there at 86. Goalies are hard to predict where they will go.

Fasth is 6', Bernier is 6' and Halak is 5'10. Smaller goalies can succeed.

Fasth is the only starter of that group and he became a starter only this year.

I know one thing....as a group, I think we keep saying that AT LEAST 40 players will be gone by pick 25....which gives us, for sure, a great pick....

What a great draft year to own 6 picks in the top 90.

I just sure as hell hope we keep them all..

Schneider 6'2
Lundqvist 6'1
Crawford 6'2
Niemi 6'2
Reimer 6'2

Pavelec 6'3

Howard 6'0
Nabokov 6'0
Fasth 6'0
Niklas Backstrom 5'11
Halak 5'10

Five goalies 6'0 and under were starters or 1B's. I think that's a pretty telling stat. In order for a 5'11< goalie to take the same amount of net away as a bigger goalie, he has to challenge much more, leaving him susceptible to caroms off the end boards, passing plays, one-timers and rebound opportunities. Smaller goalies tend to have to chase the play more and rely more on athletics than positioning. That isn't a good thing come play-off time when screens are more prevalent and sometimes in scrambles you are forced to become 'big'.
