Vancouver might have been waiting for Tippett.

Or Babcock

Tippet has an optional out-clause every year of his contract

This is going to be great! Not to mention Torts going from the hard-nosed Rangers to "leaders" like Kesler diving all over the place. Torts won't mistake him for Callahan, that's for sure. And dealing with the antics of Burrows and LaPierre... Fun is probably an understatement.

Torts might end up being the perfect coach for the Canucks. It wouldn't surprise me a bit if he gets the Sedins to buy into his philosophy, and then maybe they'll be the type of forces they were always expected to be and their numbers insinuated they should be.

And if they don't buy in, their current deals are coming up and maybe the 'nucks will trade them away and stock up for a rebuilding.

Callahan dives a lot more than Kesler, cries a hell of a lot more too. He didn't earn the nickname of the American Crosby for his skill.

Considering Callahan dives, he might.

Oh, and the Sedins wanted Torts.

Leafs acquire Jonathan Bernier for Matt Frattin, Ben Scivens and Toronto's second-rounder in either 2014 or 2015.

Callahan is a Torts kind of guy, playing a hardnosed physical game. If Kesler stayed on his skates more, his play might make him a more skilled Callahan.

But saying Cally dives more than Kesler? Kesler's a human zamboni, sweeping the ice on dives along with a group of his teammates.

Yeah, I wish Torts was behind the Canucks' bench when Marchand used Sedin's face as a speedbag with no answer or resistance from Daniel- would have loved to see the look on Torts' face as one of his team leaders was saying "thank you sir, I'll have another" in that situation.

I wonder if Torts even knows the team he's walking in on? Or maybe he thinks he can instill a large culture change. Anyway, there should be some highly entertaining pressers forthcoming.

Who calls him that, I have never heard that nickname? I have heard him called Captain America plenty.

Torts under the microscope of Canadian media is going to be fantastic.

It was bad enough in New York, but it's just been turned up to 11.

If Bernier plays well they are going to give us some hell next year. Very fast team with some scorers like Kessel and Lupul, and now if they have improved goaltending they could be a pretty scary team.

I remember hearing the same thing when they traded for Raycroft.

But seriously, that team is finally on the rise I'd wager. Burke must have done some garbage behind the scenes, because it looks like his team vision was finally coming together and paid off.

Bernier is very much an unknown still IMO, but it's a risk/reward gamble for the Leafs. Guy has the talent being a 1st round pick, it's just a matter if he can put it all together. I think it's going to be fun watching these 2 teams play next year, but they have a lot of pieces in place. Should be some good games. Hopefully it doesn't turn out like the Bobrovsky trade to CBJ, otherwise we're in for some trouble haha

Shaw nailed in the head by a puck... He's out like a lamp. I had that happen to me once... Got a nice black eye from it.

CBC is reporting that the Avs will take Mac #1.

Means our division rivals will have a shot at Jones. I don't think Florida or Tampa takes him though.

I think this series shows Chara isn't the Norris dman he's made out to be. He was abused in this series.

They were up 3-1 in game one. Just completely beaten in this series.
