Last issue being batted around: The most recent knowledge of the points per game bell curve per age and apparently a few people are fortune tellers. An exotic start. Someone light incense.

I dont know about that.... But with that said I hope he can regain his potential. He has the physical tools but its not going to be easy. He needs to come into camp with a purpose and poise.

Kings fan here and ill be honest Read is the better player but not by much the big reason he got traded to Toronto was because they gave us 500k in cap relief on top of the trade

^ Cap relief, an NHL backup, a future 2nd rounder, and Matt Frattin. Pretty good haul. Definitely better than just Matt Read the future UFA, even though Read >> Frattin by a lot although Frattin's a decent 3rd liner with 2nd line upside. Read is a top-6 forward who can PK, play any position and that includes the point on the powerplay. Beauty.

Pretty much everything you said is exactly why Read would have been the better acquisition.

Kudos to Homer for not biting.

Bernier has the luxury of playing behind one of the best defensive minded team in the league.

He may have talent but is he an upgrade on mason? WHo knows.

Am i willing to pay the price of read and a first to find out? Hell no.

Chances of Bobby Ryan

Ok, every year these rumors come up. And i know that alot of us are starting to get sick of them. I for one would LOVE Ryan to come here to Philly. But it's the same thing every year. So my question is. What are the honest chances that we see Bobby Ryan in Orange & Black this year?

I think the answer is extremely low. No one can say for sure so any answer you get will be speculation. With that said shouldn't this be in the rumors and speculation thread?

I don't know what the chances of getting Ryan are, but it would not surprise me in the least. I can't see us going into the season with the team we have now. I could see him wanting to make a splash as usual.

If he wasn't a local boy, would he be this sought after by so many fans?

Probably not this much but he is a really good scoring winger who would look really good on girouxs wing

Read and a 1st is an easy no. Read and a 2014 2nd, though, would have been fine with me. We'll probably never know what was actually offered.

I don't see many people around here dying to land him. Most people want him if he comes at a decent price and only because he's one of the NHL's most consistent 30 goal scorers. I don't think it has anything to do with being local.

But really, we get all this talk about Ryan playing for Philly, and it seems to me like there are only a couple people (at least on here) who are desperate to trade for him.

EDIT: The reason why he's in so many rumors to Philly is 100% because he's local, though.

Knock me over with a feather, but MTL has officially notified Tomas Kaberle that the dman will be MTL's second and final compliance buyout.

He's not even worth wasting a call on, is he?

To a certain degree I'm sure it's a factor but it's not like he's some 4th line plug.

Either way I would shy away from it for now. There's other needs than another top line winger.

The Flyers are in a weird position to predict in that they don't need to fill any position now with the Streit signing. If Laughton makes the team as a top 9 forward, 8 of those positions are filled with Talbot able to take that 9th spot on the 3rd line. A defenseman has to be moved just to make room for Streit and Gus. So the Flyers would just be looking for upgrades in their skaters. Is Rozy an upgrade on what the Flyers have already?

Would definitely be interested in him as a 6th or 7th guy or as a short term replacement if Coburn or Grossmann were injured/traded. Also would add another right handed option. If he was signed for this year would he be a 35+ contract? I know he is getting close but I am not sure.

Timonen-Schenn
Streit-Coburn/Grossmann/Rozsival
Gus-Coburn/Grossmann/Rozsival
