I only finally got around to signing up for an HFBoards account when I read some idiot Pens fans saying that Harry Z's kneeing major against Washington was some kind of disgraceful hit worthy of a suspension. And of course the major was rescinded a couple of days later.

I bet that guy's happy now he has that POS player on his team.

Swing and a miss.

We'll be sure to let you know when your hyperbolic attempts to make light of Holmgren's many deserved criticisms actually manage to undo his perfectly avoidable mistakes.

Would've loved Backstrom on a deal like that :/. Especially the term. Well.. there's still Luongo if he's bought out and Tim Thomas..

Looking more and more like we get to see Bryz another year though .

Weird, I thought Backstrom could've gotten 5m or so on the market.

Now the Vancouver fans think we will buy out Bryz and trade them Matt Read for Luongo and his ridiculous contract.

Despite what the fans of Buffalo and Vancouver might be currently thinking, goaltending isn't the premium position on the market anymore. There are only couple of teams in the market every year. Top shelf guys are never traded unless their caphit outpaces their performance, and then who would want them anyway. Look at this summers market: Loungo, Halak, Ryan Miller, Mike Smith, with possibility of Hiller and Tim Thomas for clear cut starters available . Then you have backup guys like Emery, Khudobin, Theordore and Greiss. How many teams actually need a goaltender: Islanders, Edmonton, Phoenix, Calgary, and Philly. Everyone of those teams already have someone on the roster, except the cheapskates Coyotes and Islanders, available already to be a number one. It's a buyers market this summer.

They do have an odd fascination with trying to get Luongo to the Flyers.

"No, you don't get it, he's a great fit for you and his contract is actually really manageable, let me explain in 10-12 paragraphs..."

I think the Flyers would be best served just signing someone like Emery or Nabokov to a cheap 1-year deal to back-up Mason. And if Read gets traded I'd rather package him to get another 1st this year.

But man it's going be funny how shocked a lot of Vancouver fans will be when Luongo ends up getting amnestied.

Or if he gets traded, how miniscule his value is. The contract practically gives him negative value, especially since whoever gets him 1) will NEED to buy him out, if they're sane, and 2) won't be able to keep him afterwards.

He's an extremely expensive rental.

No cap team will be taking that contract because of the recapture penalty. No under cap team is taking that contract because of the all the money that is left to be paid out. Vancouver has to buy him out.

I'm not sure if this has been addressed, but can you trade for a guy and then buy him out?

I can't imagine that would be against the rules.

I can. For the same reason that you can't buy a player out then sign him to a better deal, I could see there being a clause that says you can't trade for a player then buy him out. Again, I am not saying that this IS in there, but it wouldn't be too shocking if it was.

But c'mon man. There were people here cryin about the Harry Z for Rosehill trade. Something so stupid and minor. You know there are people here who no matter what will always try and bash Holmgren even when it's not necessary.
