Flyers would have won cup with Kane

What do you guys think? Kane has now won 2 cups and a Conn Smythe. He scored the GWG against the Flyers in the Cup finals. By all accounts he was supposed to be a Flyer (the Flyers were the worst team in the league by a country mile), yet they lost the lottery. I have 3 huge Flyer fan brothers that are still bitter about this, and I believe Flyers would've won with Kane. What do you guys think

They scored enough goals to win in 2010 specifically...A certain goaltender just allowed too many goals.

I don't know if you can say two and say it as a definite all together. I would have liked our chances better in 2010 with Kane on the roster over JVR though.

I guess another thread to continue to torture Flyers fans. Just because we drafted Kane doesn't mean we win the cup. His TEAM is winning the cup.

He would have raised our chances, but there is no way of knowing. It takes more than 1 player to win the Cup and until we find a reliable goalie we probably wont be seeing it anytime soon.

And no, he wasn't "supposed" to be a Flyers. The lottery is part of the rules, we lost it, just like Florida lost it this year. We're not the only team to who it happened.

Kane is an awesome player, but the Flyers haven't had a decent goalie since Hextall retired. Even if Kane was a Flyer both in 2010 and this year, I still doubt they'd be lifting the Cup!

This is absurd. Almost every report I've read has the Flyers taking JVR even at #1.

Regardless of Kane the Flyers lost the cup in 2010 because of Leighton

Carolina Hurricanes 1.5%
Montreal Canadiens 1.1%
Toronto Maple Leafs 0.8%
Colorado Avalanche 0.5%

I still haven't forgiven Jeff Carter for whiffing on an open net in OT. After that, who knows?

Watch at your own peril but if so skip to 3:22 (1987 Game 7):

This isn't true. Heck when the Flyers lost the lottery Holmgren even said that the Flyers couldn't lose to win. They wanted Kane and he was pretty much the consensus #1 pick.

An alternate universe with Patrick Kane on the Flyers is a really fun idea... at first... then as you slowly come back down you're left feeling even more depressed than before. I hate you for making this thread.

He's one of the best players in the league. JvR isn't there yet. If he's on a team with Richards, Carter, Giroux, Gagne, etc. and JvR is a rookie on the Hawks...it may swing things.

But looking at the full picture, he's become a responsible two-way player, but not enough to make up for the horrid defense and goaltending we've seen from the Flyers the past 4+ years. I say nay.

edit: now if you erase a lot of trades and you can throw out a roster like:

Kane - Carter - Giroux
Gagne - Richards - Sharp
Hartnell - Briere - Leino
Laperriere - Betts - Upshall

Timonen - Coburn
Carlsson - Pronger
Carle - Seidenberg

2 still crappy goalies.

Leave us alone....

oh the humanity....

Kane or no Kane - we needed a goalie to out perform the other ****** goalie. It didn't happen b/c ours was ****tier.

Flyers would have won the Cup if they had a goaltender and at least one other defenseman.

Nah. Kane would have been run out of town by fans and media, then he would have won a Cup elsewhere.

It stuns me that anybody can look at what happened to Carter here and think things would have been just fine for Kane.

But does Kane have a beach body like Jeff Carter?
