Can I get a non-sarcastic answer, please? Who on the Red Wings should have been Abby's spot?

No. Rather have Chicago win. That was the only team I didn't want winning besides Chicago.

Brunner.
Bertuzzi.
Tatar.
Nyquist.
Eaves.
Filppula.
Zetterberg

Pretty much every forward on the team has better offensive ability.

Some people will argue -- but then you hurt your third line.

And that may be the case. But at the end of the day, if I'm a coach, I do everything I can to give my best players the chance to be their best.

You saw Kane and Toews bust their ass to score goals in this game. Coach Quenville gave his stars the chance to be their best -- and they lifted the team to victory

That's the worst part?
Complaining about another team's bandwagon fans is kind of like complaining about rainy weather in Portugal.

If the Wings third line doesn't show up in the playoffs, this narrative that Gator wasn't total garbage goes right down the drain.

Agree with this. Don't saddle them down with players like Cleary and keep Tatar in the AHL.

They're going to lose some pieces this year too and be very, very hardpressed to repeat. But they've got some good young kids capable of stepping up and helping.

One nice thing about the salary cap is that it can force teams to make hard choices that need to be made.

Unless your GM lets premier players go to sign mediocrity...in which case they can stick around on two-year deals for a decade

I'd much rather the Hawks win then the ****ing dirty Bruins. I don't think I've ever hated a team more then the Bruins so many dirty players that will drive my nuts next year.

Well, I'd rather have the Hawks win than the Pens so I guess it isn't worse case scenario.

Yeah, pretty much already planning on buying one of those waste basket basketball bins or a dart board with Brad Marchand. I hate that guy already and we haven't even played an Eastern Conference game yet

Trading Campbell helped their cap but was really why they weren't great last year. Leddy was not ready to be in that role, by the way for as much as people love on Leddy he was almost always stapled to the bench during the post-season. Oduya stepped up this year and Hammer (yeah don't want to spell his name) returned much closer to his cup form.

They tinkered and good on them, but really the first big purge brought back in the Versteeg, Laad, Big Buff deals was pretty much a terrible haul.
Still to early to say

From Buff deal = Morin should be with Hawks next year and Hayes (1st rounder) is still in NCAA

From Ladd deal = Clendening is in AHL (Was AHL Allstar) ,, He is only hope from that trade

Steeger brought back Stalberg who should be gone now

It was moves like Leddy trade , Frolik trade and drafting guys like Shaw/Saad that rebuilt the Hawks depth

Good to know that we're in their division next year along with a couple other dirty, physical, rough and tumble teams. At least we'll have Tooto...

Nah, we got....

I've always wanted to see Nyquist or Tatar or even Brunner paired with Dats. They have speed, some two-way ability, skill, they shoot the puck more than Filppula and most importantly they want to win--they have that hunger for a cup players who haven't won it before have--which means they are that much more willing to keep fighting even when things look bad.

I kinda have high hopes for Tatar w/ Pavel, I'm not opposed to Brunner either although the pessimist in me is sure he's going to get too much money from someone else.

I dunno if Nyquist makes sense tho; forgive me because I'm paraphrasing someone else on here's argument but:

"He likes to dominate the puck too much, Dats needs creative wingers who can get into open spaces, take the puck and score. Guys who dominate the puck don't work well with him. He did great with Brett Hull but no chemistry with Hossa for example."

Again, not doing the guy's argument justice but basically it made a lot of sense to me. I think Dats needs guys who can take the pucks he sends and bury them; not another stickhandler who's creating space and looking to pass off.

Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Abdelkader
Flip-Franzen-Brunner
Nyquist-Andersson-Cleary
??? Emmerton Eaves

We will see where it goes, I more meant people naming them as contributors to this team. I certainly expected Morin to be up on this team by now, he has been skipped by Saad because of his injuries.

Clendening has some rough edges to his game, but that is to be expected from a first year pro, don't see his offensive game translating near as well as some are now claiming at the NHL level. Has a long way to go on the defensive side of the puck in my opinion.

Got to see a lot of Rockford, they have the right guys up and the right guys down in that organization. The Hayes that is in Rockford impresses me a ton, he should be interesting.

But they have time and they won't likely be asked into steep roles. It was an impressive overhaul, we will see what those future returns net them, but they aren't partying all over Chicago tonight because of what they did in those trades and I still think they could have gotten better pieces, but kind of a moot point, they still won.

I would have picked Kane. Not saying it wasn't close but he is who I would have picked if given a vote.

Anybody else surprised Toews actually shook Bettman's hand and looked at him while doing it?

Gotta think with the goalie pad reductions that Crawford isn't going to have nearly as good of a season. His pads were to his ears while he was sitting down.
