Havent seen him play last season but according to what Panthers fans have said, he looked ready to breakout last season and they expect him to this season. At times he looked dominate as a 21 yr old.

That being said I'd take Kulikov over him.

He was excellent in the playoffs two years ago but struggled last year with injuries as well as playing nowhere during the lockout do to a team suspension. He still has a boatload of talent. While Kulikov has the better offensive skill set, Gudbranson has all around capabilities. You could have him and L Schenn locking down the right side of the top 2 pairs for the next 10++ years.

That's great, but St Louis has no reason to make that trade straight up.

I don't think Shattenkirk will be even available. We'll have to OS him to some ridiculous money to pry him off St. Louis or overpay in a trade to where it's probably not even worth it.

Lot of good looking d-men in this draft. I am hoping we grab 2 with our first 2 picks. I just hope homer doesn't have a trick up his sleeve and surprise us with some off the wall selections.

I would not have a problem with taking Cout and trading him to get Jones and still have our 11th to grab Nurse but doubt Nurse will be at 11, but maybe =)

I could see a deal centered around Couturier for Shattenkirk. They have a lot of cap space, but I think they are a team on a budget, no? If they are having troubles signing Shattenkirk, he could become available, and if IIRC the Blues are rather desperate for centermen. Not a gurantee by any means, but I think trading Shattenkirk is a definite possibility.

I'm not so sure St. Louis would even be interested in Couturier. They're built for now for the most part, I would imagine they would want a definite top 6 center coming back which Couturier is not right now.

Regardless of what happens we're going to overpay for Shattenkirk either way if it's through OS or trade.

If you would really trade Coots and Giroux for the chance to draft Seth Jones, you are CrAzYyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Point I was trying to make is it's not worth it.

The more I think about it, the more I think we need to turn Read into a 1st this year.

Maybe Read + 41 gets us into the late teens or early 20's, but this is really the year to have multiple picks.

This draft is so ridiculously deep; particularly on defenseman.

You come out with Shinkaruk at 11 and Morrissey with one of CBJ's or CGY's picks for Read+41, and you've just won draft day.

Well maybe not "won," but you've easily had one of the better drafts.

You lose Read for two years, but replace him with Shinkaruk almost immediately...and you still pull Morrissey.

Read + 41 for 19th (Rangers pick) from Columbus.

I'd rather see them trade 11 + 41 for two of CBJ's firsts (14 + 27...but probably more realistically 19 + 27), then trade Read and next year's second for a late teens/early 20s pick this year like maybe 22 from CGY.

14/19: Morrissey/Morin

22: Mantha

27: Maybe Bowey or Theodore?

Pipe dream but who knows...

I'm jealous of Buffalo's two picks.

I wouldn't doubt if we could trade Read straight up for Calgarys #22. I read somewhere that they have liked Read for a long time and they are just stupid enough to do it.

But in all honesty I think it is more likely that we don't pick in the first round at all than picking twice in round 1

Newest development in bad trades that would kill the team: Coburn + Meszaros + 11 for Eblerle and 7th. I wouldnt do it.

I would absolutely love to come out of this draft with a Shinkaruk/Morrissey combination.

What is the bust factor of Morrissey like though ?

...?

Hartnell - Giroux - Voracek
Simmonds - Schenn - Eberle
Gagne - Couturier - Read
Rinaldo - Laughton - Talbot
Rosehill

Timonen - Schenn
Streit - Grossmann
Gustafsson - Nurse
Gervais

Mason
Bryzgalov

Um....?

Yeah I'm pretty sure I do that.

Wow, I'd make that trade in a heart beat. Basically Coburn for Eberle and 7th overall for 11th overall? Um, okay, where do I sign?

Is that a legit rumor? I doubt it. Edmonton would burn the city down.

Good Lord I would do that in a heartbeat and never look back. One defender is gone basically no matter what (Coburn, Mez, or Grossmann). I'd trade 2/3 plus 11 to move up to 7 AND grab one of the best young players in the game. That being said...no chance in hell Edmonton does that.

At second glance it's better, I just don't know if I'd trade Coburn to move up 4 picks? I am higher on Meszaros than a lot of people, I guess. I think he has a healthy season.
